Economical and great quality
This is very good lino for print making. It's soft, I have damaged hands but find this easy to use. The pink softcut is easier but much more expensive - the Essdee pack contains two sheets, so is much more economical.I cut the sheet into four smaller pieces, each roughly A6. I find this easier than fitting several designs on one sheet.I used the smooth side, but I don't think there's much difference. Personally I find it a bit easier to carve, and definitely easier to draw onto. The lino works well, is a good size, and economical.Happy to recommend. Thanks for reading, I hope you find this review helpful.

My favourite material for Linocut Carving
I have tried lots of fake synthetic lino, and this is the only one I like. It's lovely to carve using this, as it's so soft. Like a knife through butter. Great value. And it doesn't crumble like some. The only disadvantage in using this compared to real lino is that the cut away bits don't curl upwards for easy brushing away. So you have to be careful getting hold of them to remove them. But you get that same disadvantage with all rubber lino. And once you get used to using this, you remember to grab hold of the strand before you finish the carved line. So I only use softcut or real lino.

I love it!
I am new to lino cutting, I first bought a starter kit by the same brand (Esdee) and inside there were a couple of dark gray lino and a couple of the soft cut which I prefer. The dark gray lino is harder and you have to warm it before using it, because of its color, when you transfer the image you want to cut or even if you draw directly onto it, it's difficult to see when you're cutting, unless you use a white carbon paper or white pen. In contrast, THIS Softcut lino is a dream, very easy to cut and because of the light color, you can clearly see where you're cutting. I wish it was a bit cheaper!!!.
