Gorgeous and different
I actually have this book in paperback format - and it's just gorgeous and a great alternative to rhyming books with bright illustrations; instead this is a visual feast for both parent and child which takes the idea of home as it's starting point and invites the reader to travel the world. Each page has a small amount of text in simple language, so it might say "some homes are wigwams" or "clean homes, messy homes", but the point of this book in my opinion is the opportunities it gives for discussion between child and the person reading it. As some of the pages contain questions there's plenty of scope to talk about the pages and the detail in the pictures is a delight. It's an usual book and the first foray by Carson Ellis into writing (I've always liked her illustrations). I think it's the kind of book that deserves a place on every preschooler's shelf. Love it.thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy for review

Fantastic book about different houses and homes
A real gem of a book. Beautiful illustrations, clever and funny writing. My pre-schoolers absolutely loved it, learning about different houses and homes. Plus, I was very proud to see my small country represented by a luxurious looking duchess’ house!

lovely illustrations
I love this book, perhaps a bit more than my daughter? We do read it together and she enjoys us talking about the different houses and the people that could be living in it.

What a wonderful book.
What a wonderful book! Beautifully illustrated, interesting, easy to read and even makes you think a little. I love that she asks *why* a person lives in a home that they do. A lot of children's books are often very bright and colourful, and I love the muted tones in this. How could you not love such a charming book?
