Good quality but I sent it back
The pad in the bottom was so low to protec my coxis.I could take it back without any problema.MCdavid sent the Ítem very fast and replied immediately.By the way, I have to pay 8 pounds to send the ítem back so I wasted some money.

Good protection, but somewhat pricey
I was somewhat skeptical about them, but I've been using them for rugby practice and last week in a game. They're actually very good to keep yr hips protected when tackling. The protection on the tailbone is somewhat uncomfortable, but the thigh protection is okay. I am not sure about the "legality" according to the IRB, but for amateur play I think they're good. I didn't feel like a wuss, I gotta go to work on Monday morning after Sat/Sun play and any help is appreciated.

Good
I use it for basketball and it does the job, it's light and doesn't bother me in the slightest when moving, jumping, etc, but it protects legs and hips really well. Arrived quickly and without any hassle. Isn't cheap but does the job better than other alternatives I've tried.

Protects, non-intrusive
Written by my husband: I bought this on a whim. I just started playing basketball again after a 5-year hiatus and joined a 3-on-3 league. I've worn the shorts for the league and some weekend pick-up basketball so over the last 2 months, about 12-15 times total. Seams and stitching look good. Elastic waist band is still elastic-y. Pads still feel as new. Not much wear at all.My main reason for purchasing the shorts is because of the hip and tailbone protection. I like to think that I know how to fall on the court but my hips have taken a beating before (ground always wins, right?).In terms of usage: the pads have been great out on the courts. I've fallen a few times (I'm 6'1" 215lbs and play forward/center on my team for the most part) and the shorts have protected my hips well. They've given me confidence to play aggressively knowing my hips are protected in case I fall.I also took the shorts out sledding with my young boys. I'll admit that they are not comfortable when sitting. The tailbone pad is awkward but the added confidence makes the padded shorts a necessity in any sport/activity I may fall in. I am not as young as I used to be and I've begun to notice that my recovery times from injuries take longer. I now consider preventing injuries as a significant part of preparation for activities and the McDavid Hexpad Thudd Shorts go a long way towards that end.If I could recommend any changes to the product, I would like to have elastic at the base of the shorts so that they stay in place better on the legs.

Good protection, mediocre compression
This is a fantastic product for basketball.I suffered a hip injury a few months ago from drawing a charge and landing at a strange angle onto my hip. Once I healed and got back onto the court, I decided to use some protection. This is just as good, and a lot less expensive than the Nike option. I can drive, dive, and defend with no worries. The only downside is that the compression is not very effective. I was previously wearing the excellent Skins compression shorts. Unfortunately, those were not padded, and I'd prefer the padding over good compression. The Nike version has similar issues with the compression not being very good as well. Perhaps that's endemic to all padded shorts.

My son loves them for basketball
I bought these for my son who plays basketball. He was so happy that the pads are where they are because of how the game is played and can be "rough" sometimes! He wears a Adult Med. is about 6' 145lbs. and they fit well. They hold up well in washing machine, however I have them drip dry-which they do quickly! Great buy!

Good armor!
I'm thankful I wore these while preparing for a basketball tournament. I've taken some heavy charges with hits on my quads and hips and felt the impact of crashing on the floor at my lumbar area and these have given me the protection I needed.

Can lead a horse to water ...
Have bought Hex Pad shorts for my basketball playing son for years, and they're the best, but now it's hard to get him to wear them. Trust me, if they're playing high school or club ball, it's a contact sport and these shorts are a must, especially for lithe kids without their own padding.
