Good solid little stick with a sturdy cap
I was a little bit wary about buying a USB stick with a detachable top, as I've had some before where the top is held pretty poorly onto the main stick. This isn't the case with this model. There is a very distinctive "click" and the cap is held quite rigidly. The colour coding is a nice touch as I got an 8GB (for a tablet recovery image) and a 64GB (for day to day use) and can quickly tell them apart, even when the caps are docked on the back. The ring on the back seems to fair well on my key ring, we'll see what daily pocket use does to the printed text. On the other side is an embossed "Kingston" logo and the CE stuff. Also quite a nice touch that this comes with no additional crap-ware on it; it's just an empty USB stick which is exactly what I wanted.

8GB Just The Right Size
In an age when size matters, USB drives are now getting bigger and bigger. For my business I don't need 16GB or 32GB for single presentation use. But less and less manufactures are producing usable 8 GB USB drives, which we use for marketing and presentation give-a-ways. Why hand out a 164GB drive, when you only have 6GB of processed data. Its not Rocket Science. So its great to see 8GB USB still on the market.

Robust, good quality USB stick. Highly recommended.
With the eventual demise of optical drives on most laptops, I have started using USB sticks to install operating systems. As an IT engineer, I often use USB sticks for data transfer, OS installs, etc. The Kingston DataTraveller range are a robust and cheap alterative to using cd/dvds . Transfer speeds are excellent and price per gb is also a key factor. Has a hook for attaching a lanyard if required. The Kingston range are my preferred brand for USB sticks, and the added bonus of colour coding allows an "at a glance" for picking the right size.

Excellent reliability for the money.
Flash memory in general has really come down and there isn't too much demand for these smaller sticks but I find these are well worth grabbing these days. At less than five quid a time, they last for years. Kingston are by far the most reliable I've used over the years and this will be no exception.I did prefer the older ones with the "ribbed" sides rather than the smooth/gloss sides, but that's a minor point.

Wouldn't recommend
You get PEAK write speeds of 10MB/s and PEAK read speeds of 40MB/s, however in reality it's slower than that. It might be good if you use it to host an OS where you will only be reading from it. However on the bright side, it feels solid, but you can't attach it to a keyring if you want to keep the lid, because the lid sits on the ring at the back of the driveOverall, considering the price, I wasn't expecting anything better, I just needed to get my order to over £10.-----------------------------------------------------------------------CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 x64 (C) 2007-2013 hiyohiyo Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/-----------------------------------------------------------------------* MB/s = 1,000,000 byte/s [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 byte/s] Sequential Read : 39.433 MB/s Sequential Write : 9.358 MB/s Random Read 512KB : 39.063 MB/s Random Write 512KB : 1.466 MB/s Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 7.568 MB/s [ 1847.6 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.009 MB/s [ 2.1 IOPS] Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 8.407 MB/s [ 2052.6 IOPS] Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 0.009 MB/s [ 2.3 IOPS] Test : 1000 MB [F: 13.3% (1000.0/7492.0 MB)] (x5) Date : 2014/06/14 18:11:40 OS : Windows 8.1 Pro [6.3 Build 9600] (x64)
