I've waited a year to leave this review to use this and get a real idea of how tough and squirrel proof this is!I'm pleased to say it's great - really sturdy, stood the test of time and survived attacks by squirrels. I'd say it's pretty indestructible. The worst the squirrels have managed it's to strip small areas of paint off the metal top with their teeth. Whilst these patches have rusted a little, the overall look of the feeder is still good.Use wise, it's very easy to fill up - just unhook the hanger and lift off the outer sleeve. The inner plastic container still then stand on its own cleverly designed base leaving both hands free for you to pour the bird food in. Slide the protective outer metal mesh tube with top back over, and rebook the hanger.Plus from a bird health perspective it is very easy to take apart and clean - I can get into all the awkward bits with a bottle brush so no need to completely dismantle.

This is the best bird feeder I have ever bought. Great design, sturdy and functions really well. Easy to add the bird feed. I was dubious about the cost v performance but have been very impressed. The squirrels came for the first few days after I put it in place but they could not get to the seed and they no longer even try and just go to the other feeder in the garden which was actually meant for them. I have been very happy with this purchase

Got this to replace a basic hanging bird feeder for my second floor balcony. The other feeder was knocked off by a jackdaw, and smashed to bits on the ground underneath. This is very sturdy, and despite their best efforts flinging themselves against it, it's not fallen off or shown any signs of damage.We have pretty determined grey squirrels, but they've been totally defeated by this - they stopped trying to pick their way in, after a couple of days. Local idiot wood pigeons also couldn't work it out, and just stood around pecking the sides, before waiting for the other birds to drop bits they could eat.That's the only issue we found - small birds can get access to so much seed, they throw it everywhere. This attracted pigeons and eventually the neighbourhood rats (a stream runs under our car park, and not enough local cats to keep them in check), so we eventually took it down, to avoid grumbles from the neighbours.Expensive, but definitely a step up in quality and design from the cheapie models you get in garden centres.

This feeder is great. The birds like the slightly larger perches and the ventilation system really does seem to keep the seed dry and fresh. It's also easy to refill and to clean. I haven't seen the squirrels try to get the seed so can't really comment on that, however, squirrels have chewed and ruined a few of my feeders before and they wouldn't be able to do that to this feeder because all the accessible parts are metal. That makes it worth the small extra cost. I'm very happy with this feeder

This is the best bird feeder I've ever bought 100% squirrel proof and pigeon proof it's worth the investment. It's so easy to clean compared to other feeders. The spring that is in is set to close feeder if anything over 70grams in weight lands on it it will close and fully closed down 150g so all the small birds up to and over the size of a bullfinch they weigh 42grams can happily feed just so you have an idea starlings weigh 99grams black birds 113grams pigeons 368g dove 226gtams red squirrel 255-340grams grey squirrel 400-600grams (there is a useful list of bird weights included in the leaflet that comes with the feeder) the spring can be adjusted to suit the birds you want to feed . Also you can register your feeder as it has a two year warranty with it . The feeder is an excellent size fantastic quality and looks great too . REMEMBER always support the feeder when removing hook as the inside slides out so you dont spill seeds everywhere but they have a lable on it to remind you . The spring action is awesome I have been invaded by 3 squirrels and this is the answer its stopped the wood pigeons and pigeons getting food out so stops them messing everywhere I didnt have any then one day the pigeons arrived and I've done everything to get rid of them and this is the answer to my problems . I can say my bullfinches love this feeder plenty of room for their heads to feed easily compared to the caged squirrel proof feeders that are available and they adapted to the new feeder the first day it went up the goldfinch and green finches love it too and long tailed tits and all the other tits too .it's great to see them feeding as the large pigeons put the smaller birds off from feeding and the squirrels started to fight the pigeons so my bird watching was disrupted by all the chaos and now I'm back to just the birds I want to see and feed in my garden and no messy pigeon poop to deal with they did hang around a few days but once they realised they couldnt get to the food they moved on elsewhere so happy days again. I'm so impressed with this brand and them being 100% squirrel and pigeon proof they are simply the best bird feeders so I have ordered two of the squirrel buster minis to change all my feeders to this brand it saves so much wasted seed and the build quality is awesome what more could you want . I got my feeder on special offer I know they seem expensive but they are worth every penny spent you will not regret this purchase .If i have any issues at all I will up date my review.

I’ve used the old squirrel busters for years and they’re good but caught rats on them before and squirrels can manoeuvre onto them.::The new ones(evolution) I bought at my local garden centre and on day one disappointed as most of the finches don’t know how to land on them. Just watched my bullfinches fly away frustrated and hoping they come back again.There needs to be a clear perch like with the old model.The feeder itself feels very sturdy and better designed against rodents but shame if half the birds can’t woke out how to use them.
