Quite expensive for what it is but is is comfortable
Update 10/07/2018: OK, so looking back on it my original review was very harsh but I was very disappointed with my initial purchase. However, 2 months on and there still doesn't seem to be any alternative facial interfaces for the Oculus Rift. It's been very hot this Summer and the original Oculus facial interface is a sweat magnet and also gets very uncomfortable after wearing it for any reasonable amount of time.I decided to purchase this Oculus Rift VR Cover again, knowing that it is expensive for what you are getting but then again it is a very niche market and you are essentially a captive audience. This time it arrived in different packaging to before - a vacuum moulded plastic box (but the same actual product). It still has the same vague instructions packaged with it but this time the fabric cover was properly attached to the facial interface... So that's how it's supposed to look?! It is definitely not clear in the instructions or the video on their website that this was how it is supposed to be assembled! I've attached some new photos to show how it should look and how it looks when inserted into the HMD.It is actually very comfortable now and doesn't let any light in and I've also found I can wear it for much longer than the original Oculus Rift one. I actually feel a bit stupid for not having it set up properly the first time round but the instructions are so vague. If the fabric is loose and dangling around by your nose then you've not got it set up properly! It does interfere with the HMD sensor so it often thinks you're wearing it which means the HMD displays are powered up etc. It's not a big issue but something to be aware of.Pros:- Actually more comfortable that the original Oculus Rift facial interface, especially during long sessions.- Easy to clean- Doesn't let light in around the noseCons:- Probably the worst instructions I've seen in a while. The video online appears to be for a completely different model too.- It is expensive for what you actually get but there are simply no other options at the moment.- Interferes with the HMD sensor so it thinks you're wearing the HMD-----Original Review:For £30 this is way too overpriced for what it is and like many other people have said it's really worth no more than £5.I made sure I read all the reviews before purchasing this but as the reviews are such a mixed bag there was just as good a chance I would like it as not!It arrived in quite nice packaging which appeared to be a good start but after opening the box I was quite disappointed to see that it didn't look anywhere near as good as the advertised pictures.I had a feeling this might be the case after reading some of the other reviews so it wasn't a complete shock by this point. The basic design is actually not a bad concept but it is very poorly executed. The PU Leather is attached to the plastic base plate with a thin strip of Velco and this doesn't feel like it will last very long. The cloth piece that attaches to the frame is simply a terrible design and doesn't even fit over the nose properly. It would have been better to not include the cloth piece at all rather than supply something that makes the entire product seem really cheap and nasty - the problem is it's not cheap, it's very expensive.I thought that I could probably use it without the cloth cover and although the PU leather is reasonably comfortable against the face it lets way more light in around the nose and is totally immersion breaking. Whilst I agree that I could block out the light using something else, this would be a bodge for a product that doesn't fulfil its purpose properly. I simply could not see past these flaws and as a result I'll have to return it.It's a real shame because the facial interface on the Oculus itself isn't great quality itself and that foam sure won't last long. I just doesn't look like you can buy a genuine replacement at the moment.

A definite improvement over the original
On my Rift CV1 I was noticing that the foam at the top of the forehead wasnt as spongey as it was before so the plastic was actually starting to dig into my head - not great for a decent session of Beat Sabre or Robo Recall! So I went on the hunt for a new face pad and there are quite a few different brands these days, but this one seemed to be the only one that had more positive than negative comments (not just on Amazon but elsewhere as well). So ordered it was, and it arrived very promptly (was expecting it on Friday but it arrived a day before so I cant complain about that!)Fitting was easy - just remove the old cover carefully, then slot the new faceplate in place (it was already pre-assembled with the pad and the cloth cover on the plastic ). I then slapped the headset on and noticed it was very tight in comparison due to the new foam pad, so adjustments were made to the straps and it was much better - the fit around the face and nose was much better and there was less movement on the headset overall when moving around. The only 2 gripes I have are the foam seems a little rigid but that will loosen up with time and usage, and the price at £28 seems a little high for what the item is but as VR is still quite niche the prices will reflect this.Well recommended - thanks VR Cover!!

A good replacement for the Oculus Rift
I bought these as the original foam pads were getting a bit worn and sweaty. I was a bit hesitant to buy them after reading some reviews but very happy with the product. It was easy to fit (does come with instructions but they're not really necessary to figure out what you need to do) and very comfortable. Seeing as it is the middle of summer here in the UK, I removed the fabric cover (which is very soft and washable) and just used with the leather/foam padding which sits very snug on the face. I had read that some reported a leakage of light but this was not a problem for me and did not notice any intrusive light into the headset.Perhaps the item is a bit pricey for what you get but it seems well made and will no doubt last longer than the original foam covers that came with the headset. Also the (mock) leather/foam is easy to clean so no doubt is considerably more hygienic. Some people reported that the cover has a tendency to switch on the Oculus with it being so thick but this has not happened to me as yet, but you can disable the auto on when you put headset on in the settings anyway which should stop this from happening.Overall, I am very pleased with the product and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a replacement for the Oculus Rift (no idea if this fits the Rift S or Quest).

Costly, but more comfy. Long term if it lasts price won't be such an issue.
Alot more comfy than the one that came with the rift which left marks all over my face. Overpriced for what it is though, but when no other options available have to go with this one.Only issue I have with it is with the cloth cover when playing sweaty games. Which is there's a bit of bad stitching on the join under left eye of the fabric cover which causes it to have a lump that rubs the skin and irritates it alot.Would say if the rift foam, has issues for you try to adjust it first, if that don't work give this a try. It's more comfy for me, other than the stitching issue and alot easier to clean after a session on something more energetic.Update.After reporting the issue to vr cover in a message through Amazon, vr cover are posting me directly from there own warehouse a replacement cover for it after seeing the defect in a picture. Which was sorted after a couple of days messages and should be with me in a few days.
