Best colouring pencils ever. The wax in them ensures ease of use and good colour. Only downside for me is that there are not many shades of blue in any of the sets.

I've been using colour pencils for many years now and finding the cost of replacing my Prismacolor and Derwent Coloursoft collection a bit too much. Thought I'd take a chance on some of the Black Widow pencils based on reading reviews. I am a total convert. Unbelievably good for the price. To me they feel like a combination of the best qualities of Prismacolor and Derwent without the high price tag. Luscious, intense pigment that slides on to the page effortlessly, like Prismacolor. No bleeding or smudging at all, even with the deepest and most intense colours, which is a real problem for me when using Prismacolor. Firm cores which hold their tip and wear down slowly. Able to wear with a broad edge and point so sharp right down to the stage they need to be sharpened like harder Derwent varieties but without scratchy results some of those give, or sore hands from effort of getting deep coverage on paper. More Artist than lower price Derwent but slower to wear down or lose point. A fabulous spectrum of colour: confess to having bought the entire range within days of getting the first order as so impressed. Being soft the pencils work well on cheeper paper colouring designs too which is an additional and unexpected bonus. I do prefer the newer design collections with colour indicator ends due to how I store my pencils but they are all gorgeous to look at and to hold. I do find slightly larger pencil shafts easier to grip but these take so little pressure when using that I am getting in fine with the smaller grip. Work well for fine lines or solid colouring, light shading to deep intense cover, and shading and mixing to achieve softer blended results. I absolutely love the black paint finish and the black wood shafts. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but they also smell delicious. I don't know what type of wood is used but the aroma when you open the tins and use these pencils is different to any others I have. Taking me time to get used to the more descriptive than colour wheel traditional names but I do love the names the colours have. Nice finishing touch fitting with the overall image. Incredibly good value.

I purchased these pencils to complement other pencils I own. I have oil based pencils so was looking for wax based ones that have bright vibrant colours, are easy to use and are affordable. These fit the job perfectly. They come in a tin which is sturdy and easy to open, it feels though storing pencils in the tin long term with lots of use will not be an issue. The designs on the tin are fun yet simple and elegant. The pencils themselves have a black barrel with the brand, number and pencil name written in red. There is also a stamp of a spider on the pencil to indicate the set it came from. The pencils look stylish and have a mixture of traditional names and some more fun and funky ones too such as Tarantula and Fang Green. There is even a colour swatch on the inside of the tin lid to identify the colour and pencil name. The only downside is that with the barrel being all back you have to look at the name or pencil lead to identify the colour, where as other pencils often have the barrel in the pencil colour or at least a dipped end for identification. Although, in this case I think that would ruin the look of the pencils. As I plan to store these, in time, in order in a pencil roll like my others, I don't anticipate identification being an issue. The very end of the pencil is dipped too meaning that you can not see the lead showing. This is great as other pencils I've used in the past, have had the lead work free at that end and this won't happen with the black widows. The retailer that sold these pencils, distributed the pencils quickly. The arrived in super quick time, well packaged and pristine with no damage. I had no issues or problems so had no need to return or contact customer service so am unable to review on that side of things. In conclusion, I'm over the moon with these pencils. They are fantastic pencils, lovely vibrant colours that look great, feel great and are brilliant to use. I have already purchased the Cobra set and plan to also buy the Scorpions, Skin ranges and hopefully the Monarch set too and will be using the same retailer where possible. They are absolutely great value for money and at this price point I feel they are the best on the market. Happy Colouring!

Love, love colours and soft creamy crayons but hard to sharpen without breaking. I have wasted a lot. Maybe faulty set but will not buy again.

Fabulous pencils, brightly pigmented and smooth lay down, good for layering and nice design

I have prismacolour, Arrtx, Derwent coloursoft and a couple of cheap brands that I cant remember the names of. These pencils beat all of them and I cant believe the price difference. The scorpion set has all the colours I need for my Johanna Basford Colouring books as well for a great contrast of dark and pale in the tones to make my pictures pop. There soft and creamy and strong pigmented. They feel like prisma colour like butter but the price compared to prisma pencils are hugely different. What a bargain. The leads aren't broken. You dont need to put pressure on and the pigments are so bright it feels effortless colouring with them. They blend smoothly as well. Arrtx are terrible compared to when I tested these 2 together. Arrtx doesnt blend well like these do and there not as creamy soft textured. They even feel better than prisma when im colouring with them. I will only ever buy this exact case of pencils now so I hope to god the scorpion tin stays for sale all through my life time and doesn't change. Even the colour selection its perfect. In other brands theres always loads of pencils left un touched. You have to try these pencils and especially at around 11pound you cant go wrong.

al vele recencies over gelezen op diverse fb pagina's over kleuren voor volwassenen, toen werd ik toch nieuwsgierig. Deze week de nu beschikbare serie van 5 soorten (BW spider, scorpion, cobra, skin dark en skin light) ontvangen en ik ben zeer verrast over de kwaliteit, de zachtheid van de potloden en zeker ook van de kleurafgifte in de lichte kleuren, zeker gezien de prijs. Hoewel nog niet aan de orde is het jammer dat er geen losse potloden verkrijgbaar zijn om later te vervangen. Maar gezien de prijs per set, is dat ook niet onoverkomelijk.

Very very nice pencils, been wanting them for a long time

My daughter and I love these. I always used to swear by my Prismacolor pencils but it is unbelievable how much the led breaks.. these on the other hand have been amazing for that and I love the smoothness and saturation. I plan on collecting all sets. I recommend them
