Samsung DA29-00003G Internal Fridge Water Filter, Model HAFIN2/EXP,White, packaging may vary

Cold drinking water and ice from the freezer is unbeatable, this filter is easy to change, value for money, the water tastes better than tap water, no brainer!

I've had my Samsung fridge for 6 years now and so I've ordered several of these. I have had Samsung branded replacement cartridges before and had not any issues, however the last 4 have been WPro - a compatible but reputable brand. I have now taken to buying the cheapest as there is (or was) in my opinion no difference between the two. However this time I could not fit the filter. I compared the old and new side by side and there was no obvious reason for the difficulty I was experiencing. I could re-fit the old filter but not the new. A closer inspection showed that the lugs (for want of a better term) that guides and tightens the fit of the filter in its housing was a slightly different shape, the sides were steeper and almost square. Even seeing this and trying to account for it by using a little more elbow greese I eventually had to give up for fear of breaking the fridge. In the end I had to trim the lugs with a Stanely knife, not something everyone either would have thought of or been able to do. It now fits and works fine however from now on I will be buying the WPro version and not the Aqua Pure Samsung branded ones.

As with the previous Samsung filter I purchased from an Amazon supplier, this one appears to be a genuine Samsung spare part, so no worries about ordering one of these and ending up with something that's clearly not what you were expecting. Thanks to the internal fit of these filters, swapping the old for the new took about a minute (and half of that time was spent mopping up the small amount of spillage you get when the old filter is removed), and then after running a few litres through the new filter it was ready for use.The water filtered through this replacement part tastes as good as through the previous filters I've had on the fridge (including the original supplied by Samsung themselves), and tastes better than the water straight from our mains feed, so it's definitely doing something! One thing I have noticed about this one compared to both of the previous filters is that the flow rate seems a bit higher - filling up my 1L water bottle isn't such a lengthy process now.As for the supplier - no complaints there. The part was dispatched promptly and arrived well within the expected timescale for the chosen delivery method. With quick service like this, and prices that make the high-street seem even more overpriced than usual compared with online suppliers, why would you buy anywhere else?

It's a minefield out there when trying to buy a replacement Samsung water filter. This is described as the DA29-00003G but according to Samsung, this is not the model number; it is HAFIN2/EXP. Despite ordering the 3G, I actually received the 3F or HAFIN1/EXP, an older model of the filter. Whilst I 'think' the filter is working correctly - I heard water flushing into it - the change filter indicator stays red, meaning that the filter should be changed. I think this is because the lugs (for want of a better term) are not exactly the same and so the indicator does not get reset.Update 29/5/13: Extensive searching online reveals that the 3F is actually "made as a cost effective alternative to DA29-00003G (3G), and earlier A B variations. 3F filters a slightly lower percentage of particulates & contaminates compared to the 3G (DA29-00003G)". So, the 3F & 3G are essentially the same thing, despite the lugs being slightly different. It's not helped by many sites which say that the 3F replaces the 3G, despite 'F' being alphabetically lower than 'G'!! Consquently, have revised my rating.PS. Press & Hold 'Ice Type' & 'Child Lock' together for 3 seconds and release to reset the indicator light.

Like so many others, my filter does not fit either, despite this being a "repeat purchase" and the packaging and reference numbers being identical.

Bought this for my 6 year old Samsung American style fridge freezer. Apparently the model we have (and the filter that comes for it) is discontinued but this is indeed a compatible replacement. As far as I can tell, it's a genuine Samsung filter - do be careful when looking at others because I noticed some were sold as "Samsung Filter" but are actually copies. This appears to be genuine (I say appears because I am no expert but it does say "Samsung" all over it so if it's a copy it's pretty good!). Easy to install and does what it says on the tin; we've been enjoying filtered water all weekend.
