Good quality and reliable nice straight cuts I would recommend this Jig Saw
This is an excellent tool, my only issue it doesn’t come in a plastic carrying case just a cardboard box. I also didn’t realise you have to use an allen key to change the blade, however my last jig saw was a Bosch and it had a quick change push in mechanism that completely failed making it useless. Shame on Bosch, bravo Makita.

Poor delivery
It is obviously a fantastic product. It was just left on the door step in full view of the street. I was in and a friend and the dog too. I also have a doorbell. Nobody heard the delivery person. An expensive product which I was led to believe had to be signed for. I could have said it didn't arrive but I would not do that. You are wide open for that one !!

Needs a good quality blade
Bought this to replace a perfectly good, but basic Bosch jigsaw, thinking that orbital action and variable speed would improve the cutting performance. I have used this jigsaw, so far, to cut 19mm melamine faced chipboard using the 'multi purpose' blade supplied with the machine. I could only get clean cuts with the orbital action turned off and this seemed to make no difference to the cutting rate of the jigsaw. The variable speed, however, does help with controlling the saw particularly on start up, so a slight improvement over the Bosch. Initially, I was getting straight, square cuts but after a very short time the blade turned to rubber and will now do anything but cut straight or square. I have come to the conclusion that you are better off buying a basic, cheap jigsaw and spending your savings on good quality, single purpose blades and replacing them regularly.

Works nicely
I used this with Makita A-85634 (B-11) blade rather than the one in the box and it did an excellent job. I got nice clean cuts each time. I really need to sort out a guide for it next time though as I drifted a bit. One very minor gripe is installing / removing the blade - the little screw has to be unscrewed almost to the point of falling out but it's not the end of the world.
