Q: Can I shampoo carpets with it

Basically this machine is a wet and dry vacuum cleaner,if you applied the shampoo by whatever means, you could then remove the shampoo and moisture from the carpet, this is a very powerful vacuum cleaner. This particular model is verging on an industrial cleaner, and was not designed to shampoo carpets.

Q: Do you have to use bags if only using for dry vacuuming?

I don't use bags. use it in my workshop for dust and shavings collection. does a great job.

Q: Did anyone else have difficulty getting the rear wheels to attach? It feels as though the axle is too short - even if I omit the washers.

No I did not have any problems fitting the rear wheels or any other part of the assembly
