Decks don't match the box.
I got this specific trainer box to teach my niece and nephew how to play. The box suggests a Mewtwo and Melmetal deck. I got a Melmetal and Cynderace deck. This makes a bad learning set as metal is weak to fire. With a psychic and metal deck this issue wouldn't arise. So product not as advertised. Also, they give you the protective sleeves, but not a box big enough to hold the cards sleeved. So buy a box for sleeved cards if you haven't

Great set, but I'll stick to Yugioh
I always wanted to learn to play pokemon. I grew up playing and collecting yugioh, but its pretty different. Set came with 2 decks and other goodies. It was fairly straightforward with instructions, mabey its my age, but I personally couldn't stick with it. It's is definitely a great set for those looking to learn as I said, but I'll just stick to Yugioh lol.

Box correct, contacts may vary
The promised items in the box are different than what you’re receive. Contents are still good enough for learning, but may not be what you pay for. Overall not super happy with the purchase but it’ll work for the person I’m trying to teach the game to.

This box is not a training set
This was the learn to play 2 player beginner's box - it came with one intro deck, labeled "Player 2", one instruction manual, and one random unrelated deck, invalidating the documentation for half of the training deck. Do not recommend, would not buy from this seller again.

Missing a lot of stuff
I expected to get 2 playable decks and instructions...but there was a lot missing. For instance, the play mat and damage tokens were missing, as well as the rule book. We only have the decks, sleeves, and one step-by-step book which talks about the "other player" - but their deck is NOT in this set. Instead a second deck is included which does not match the step-by-step book. The book says you can put the cards in order based on numbers on the cards...one deck is numbered, but the other is not.So it's OK if you want to read the book to get an idea of the rules by example - but not if you're looking to actually follow along. Disappointing, since my 7-year-old kids were hoping to learn to play and nobody in the house has ever played before. Overall, a poor introduction to the game.

Missing items
Based on the included instructions, it seems like the kit was missing point markers and another instruction manual.

Not for beginners
My son expressed interest in Pokemon, so we decided to learn the game as a family. This set seemed like a great place to start. Oh, how wrong we were! This set came with a MelMetal deck (beginner? advanced?) and an Eevee deck; the Eevee deck box even says "Advanced Deck"!This product comes with nice protective card sleeves, and it does have 2 extra cards. I'm new to Pokemon, so I don't know if these cards are rare (or not) - Rotom and Giratina.A rules reference guide is included, but there is no guide teaching you how to play. The first page of the rules reference guide says 'Stop here if you haven't done the tutorial game." What tutorial game? As I read the rules, the author references "when you played the tutorial game, you did x, but when you really play you'll do y." Ok, again, what tutorial game? Clearly something(s) are missing.

Perfect for the kid learning.
My 9 year old has had many Pokemon cards - as a collector and having some fun. This is the next level for her - actually learning how to play. The kit itself was nice - well packaged, good selection of cards, and clear enough instructions for her to dive right into it.
