A pleasant, though not inexpensive, surprise that works well
I had great trepidation before deciding on which camera system to use for the house. I've previously had issues with WiFi sensitivity on an internal IP camera. On reviewing the market, the cameras appeared bulky and they required wiring to the place they were installed. In our house, there were also issues with a wired system where we couldn't have proximity to the router. The Arlo Pro system seemed to meet our needs, but it also appeared too good to be true - no wiring, local storage, free cloud storage. I felt there would be issues with setting it up, and of connectivity and sheer practicality. There was also the cost - twice that, at least - of the wired system that had been recommended to me.I decided to try it, on the grounds I could return it to Amazon if there were problems. In the event, the Arlo Pro plus 3 cameras arrived next day, using Prime. I was still hesitant and waited a day before opening the box. (grief, I've worked in IT since the 1960s so shouldn't be so cautious, but I've seen so many duds in the past).Upshot is that I think the system is superb. I haven't yet had time to test the longevity of the batteries, but everything else works really well and was super easy to set up.The Arlo base unit connects to the Sky Q router by ethernet cable. The signal goes to the bottom of the garden, some 60 feet - beyond the ability of the camera to detect movement at the house, unfortunately, so I couldn't place a camera there. The awesome thing about the cameras is that the location where they are to be installed doesn't need to be guessed. A camera can be held in position while viewing the iPhone app to judge suitability. The magnetic base is held in position by a single screw, and is removable by sliding it. One can have several locations for a camera, depending on need, and the camera can be moved between them as necessary. The ease of removing the camera base means they can be vulnerable, so they do need to be placed out of easy reach. I had concerns too about the magnetic base, but the strength is such that those were quickly satisfied. The main concern finally, was how to locate the third camera at the rear of the house. It had to face the house and take in a side access. That meant it should be at low level and therefore vulnerable. We finally converted a fancy bird feeder, with the camera concealed inside, and placed it in an unobtrusive location. It works beautifully. Update: only problem is the birds occasionally set the camera off as they try to land in the bird house it occupies.I don't use sound detection, but the motion detection is very responsive while not being overly so.The app, and the browser access, are very good. I did have some issues as my computer is an iMac and, at first the Safari browser would not use the Flash functionality that is required. However, a tweak of the Properties of the browser fixed that, albeit not until after a few concerned moments. I really didn't want to use Chrome for that purpose alone. So, in summary, yes, it is a lot of money, but the product is real quality, easy to set up and seemingly foolproof. Time will tell how effective it will be.At present I really recommend it.Update.I installed the cameras on 22 August and they have been used since then. One is permanently on and I recharged the battery when it reached 37% after 7 weeks. I call that very acceptable. The other two are on overnight and when we leave the house, so maybe half of each day. After the 7 weeks, one is 68% and the other is 50% of battery. The one with the currently higher charge was installed some time after the other two, hence the disparity. We have 24Mbps broadband and have no connectivity problems at all, no drop-outs. The cameras are placed at heights that would require a ladder to reach, so a casual passerby could not remove them.To recharge the battery took less than two hours.I'm still really pleased with these cameras.

Happy customer
It’s simple to register & connect your cameras to the base station.Picture quality is good & also night vision.Don't know about how long battery last for because I’ve only put them up for 2 days time will tell. You can switch them off when your home to save battery life but when there on they only activate when movement detected.Great little camera so you can hide these in small places. They also work with echo show so I can view outside from my lounge .They are expensive to buy but for free 7 day iCloud is not bad but there is a option to save your recording to a memory stick .Magnetic bracket come with this but I’ve only used one because there really not flexible with the angle I wanted.Had to buy additional brackets also on Amazon.Great piece of kit definitely recommend .

Review after 6 months....
I am reviewing this after approx 5 or 6 months installation and use.Prior to buying a did a bit research on these products and chose Arlo for the following reasons: Wireless; Very long recharageble battery life; and no ongoing subscription charge.Installation is quick easy. I have 2 cameras to the front and 1 covering the rear. The app allows lots of configuration options to manage set up, triggers and recording/alarm. The alarm is loud which is also very good.None of my cameras are particularly far away from the base unit: 2m; 8m and approx 12m.Arlo apparently has a huge range but even on 12m it's down to 2 out of 3 bars for 2 WiFi connection. This is only through one external modern brick wall and one internal plasterboard wall with no big electronic devices in-between . If your installing further please read other reviews of people doing this.Despite being hammered by various weathers the cameras have stood up well. No leaks so far. Reassuring to know as they are not cheap. One thing I found out quickly is these cameras cannot be put behind a double glazed window. The motion will not trigger through the glass so if that's your intention keep reading for a possible solution.... One way to do this is have two cameras set up covering an area and add rules so that when CamA is triggered it records on CamA but also records on CamB. Perhaps useful for covering an entire driveway with the external camera and the internal one behind the glass is a more close up recording of a door.Recording isn't perfect... I sometimes find the camera slow to "kick in" and begin recording. Despite various changes of angle and limiting the area covered it generally misses the first few seconds. Get the occasional blocky recording too. Pixelated, not great for security really. The upload to the cloud storage works well for me.The alerts via email and app seem pretty quick too.Battery... This is why a two star review. On first setup my rear camera lasted around 3 month. After a full charge the next run only lasted 2 months. Now I am lucky to get 1 month. It's not the camera or battery as I have swapped these around with front cameras which last 3 mths. The recordings are very rare at the back garden so it's not continued triggering and data Xfer so it's now needing charged every month fit little activity. Getting a ladder, taking down if the wall mount, charging, putting back up again so frequently will only get more irritating. The wireless / battery length was the major reason for purchasing but at the moment it's proving a pain. Yes I could try moving the camera position but the location wasn't chosen randomly, it was chosen as the best area of coverage for this space and other positions would have compromises. Also as said it's on 12m away.If I didn't have issues with the rear camera it would be 3.5 stars, maybe 4
