Really good shaver at a great price
Product turned up today as had next day delivery with Amazon prime.Unboxing - nice and simple, as I have read in other reviews it comes with a 2 pin adaptor, the shaver and a trimming head - only downside is that you do not get a bag to store these in.Use - you are able to use after a quick 5 minute charge which I found impressive. Prior to using this I had not shaved for about 3 days so had a decent length of facial hair to try this out with. I do not shave everyday - I get away with every ther day and I am not the type that has a 5 o'clock shadow by midday.Result - I managed to get a really close shave, better than my previous Phillips shaver which I owned. I used soap with the razor. The razor did not clog up during the shave, I was prompted by the unit to clean it after I had finished shaving. I had missed a patch or two but this was easily remedied as there was plenty of charge left in the razor. I have really sensitive skin and my previous electric razor would give me really bad razor burn. This was not the case here, no razor burn at all and a good finish!! I am aware that some people have marked this razor down for the cutting ability - I have personally not experienced this.

Excellent smooth shave
I have an old shaver which is not cordless...its served its purpose over the years but was noisy and took a long time to get a decent shave. I thought this shaver might not be what I thought, because it's so quiet and smooth. I find it is better to use as a wet shave because it glides over the skin even using just soap and water, but if you use a gel, then it doesn't get better. The added bonus of multi-directional shaving heads easily removes difficult hairs under the chin and around the neck area. The fact is its turned out to be a comfortable and quick shave. I've even used it when having a bath...what a luxury! This shaver is also easy to clean and fits nicely in the hand. Some have said the 'ON' button could be switched off because it could be covered by the thumb...but not so...you simply place your thumb on the side of the shaver when shaving, it isn't a problem. I would however have liked a case to put it in.All round a lovely product...and a pleasure to use.

Good alternative to wet shaving when in a hurry
Let's get something out of the way first: if you're expecting an electric razor to produce a result equivalent to a manual wet shave, then you're likely to be disappointed with this item - and indeed any other electric razor. With that said, my last 'experiment' with an electric razor was circa-2001. It wasn't a pleasant experience: the shave wasn't particularly close and I always felt like stubble was being 'plucked' rather than 'cut. Since then I've wet shaved exclusively. So it was with some trepidation I decided to purchase an electric razor again - in large part because it was so competitively priced in the 'Boxing Week' Amazon sale at just £45. I must say I've not been disappointed - it's a vast improvement over the ghastly unit I used in 2001, both in terms of feel (i.e. no 'plucking') and in closeness of shave. It's still not up there with a proper wet shave, but it's both a) a lot quicker, and b) a lot cleaner.I've tried it both as a wet shaver and as a standard dry shaver. Since most buyers will probably use it dry, let's talk about that first: if your facial hair is fairly stiff, it works well, and does achieve a pretty close shave. Running one's hand over the chin after use does feel remarkably smooth, though it does tend to occasionally 'miss' a hair or two, which then become an irritant, so you'll want to run it over each area several times, feeling with your hand behind it to see if anything's been left behind. If your hair is soft, though, this unit really struggles. I find there's a small patch at the base of my nose where the mustache air is noticeably softer than the rest, and that's often missed by this unit. A quick scrape with the manual razor every few days solves that.I've not used it as a 'full wet' shaver - that is to say - taking it in the shower with me, but I have used it with shaving oil (the excellent Somersets Oil - well worth a look if you don't like traditional shaving foam). In this scenario where the oil softens the bristles, wetting the head of the razor under a hot tap seems to improve its cutting performance. So - if you've stiff facial hair, dry works best; if you've soft facial hair, wet works best - at least in my experience. This unit hasn't entirely replaced my manual wet shaves, but it does at least mean I don't have to do them every day - I can save them for once or twice a week when I'm not in a hurry.

Passes the girlfriend test, and leaves my face softer!
I have had this shaver about 6 weeks now. In that time I have decided it is the best shaver I have owned. It is not painful, and has never pulled, even with a couple of days growth.I have quite a big, pointy adams apple which proves hard to shave, and this gets around it easily.I have read reviews here saying it is not as close as a wet shave using a razor. Well for me I only have to look at a razor and my neck ends up like something from a horror movie! Blood all over me and the sink! And still lots of stubble on my neck! I don't think I have ever had a good wet shave. However this Philips shaver is quick for me, and easy. I have not tried using it with water to shave, prefering a dry shave, but it passes the girlfriend test as she says my face feels softer! The only part that lets it down is under my nose, above my lip, the moustache region. I still have to use my old braun here as the rotary can't get close enough to my nose. However where as the braun left my neck sore and painful, this does not!The first one I had was open, so I contacted amazon and they were fab, and I had a replacement the following day. So not only do I have a fab shaver, I had fab customer service to boot.Would I buy another again? Yes most definitely.
