A Great Little Device
As an asthma sufferer I have spent some time researching available devices to ease or improve my breathing. When I came across this little device I was amazed to see how inexpensive it was compared to some other products that seemed to offer the same benefits. At the price I thought I had to give it a go and I am glad I did. It arrives in its own plastic 'wallet' with multi language instructions for setting it up and using. Each of the parts can be easily dismantled for cleaning, and there was no obvious smell or flavour to the soft mouthpiece. The resistance to air flow in and out is easily adjusted, both at the rounded end which holds a ball that can be moved further over a vent hole to allow more or less air in, and nearer the mouthpiece where a turn knuckle can be screwed in or out, again to make breathing resistance lesser or greater. The idea is to start at a low level of resistance and, breathing only through the mouthpiece for 25 times in the morning and again in the evening, exercise the lung muscles until they become stronger. I have only been doing this for a short time but I can see the advantages of doing this over a prolonged period. At first it is tempting to set the resistance higher so your lungs have to work harder - this can actually reduce oxygen flow and raise blood pressure so it is not advisable. My plan now is to start at a low level and build up resistance steadily so that improvements are felt over time. I consider this a great value product for anyone who wants to improve their lung capacity and effectiveness. I thoroughly recommend it.

Lung muscle trainer
An easy and common sense principle. Basically provides resistance as you breathe in to make your lung muscles work harder. Heard Joey Diaz praising these on a podcast and have battled with wheezy asthma for decades - inhalers pretty bad at controlling it so had to get creative. Alt medicine is good; but is an investment of time and effort as well as not straightforward. Found that, for me, exercise helped. Thought this was worth a go and I do feel a benefit from using it. Basically twiddle it till you find a setting that makes breathing hard and then do 25 sharp inhales (or exhales) in row twice a day is what they recommend. It's not an instant "wow I feel much better", but I've noticed less wheeziness and like over a few weeks of using it. It works on the idea that your breathing muscles will get better and more efficient if they are exercised. I don't just do this on its own, I also do butekyo breathing (nose), take homeopathic pollen for seasonal allergies and take cordyceps as well as try and exercise at least once a day. Seems to help. As this is cheap and effective it's worth a buy.

Great for running, and for breathing issues
I guess I should say upfront that if there might be any medical reasons that using something like this could cause you difficulty, you should check with a doctor first... I got this to help improve my breathing when running and cycling. I use it for around 5 minutes every day, and I think it makes a difference. It is hard to say how much of a difference, but I have certainly noticed an improvement in my breathing capacity since using it. I have also gone for a few periods of time without using it, when I was on holiday, and again noticed a bit of a drop in performance as a result which picked back up when I went back to using it every day. It takes a bit of trial and error to get a setting that provides enough resistance to each breath without being too restrictive, but adjusting it is easy - just twist the dial and gradually keep adding resistance until you get to the right level for you. There are various similar things like this out there that are app enabled etc and I have no doubt they might give a bit more of a benefit over time - but they are also significantly more expensive than this little device and unless you are a professional or very very serious athlete, the difference is probably going to be negligible. Cleaning it is easy - just run it under hot water and wipe off. My grandad eventually got one of these too as he was struggling a bit with his breathing and had found he was starting to struggle just with going up and down the stairs. He uses it in the morning when he gets up, just sitting in bed using it for 5 minutes or so. He has noticed an immediate difference. He isn't going to be running marathons any time soon, but he is no longer struggling to breathe when going about his day to day activities. Given it is pretty inexpensive, I would definitely recommend giving it a shot if you want to improve your breathing a bit.

Good for BP reduction experiments
I bought this after reading about research at the University of University of Colorado at Boulder that suggests five minutes of high-resistance Inspiratory Muscle Strength Training (IMST) six days a week can reduce systolic blood pressure (google it!). It's too early to say if that's true for me, but I can review this product, which can be used for this purpose, and is much cheaper than alternatives. The mouth guard bite-down bit is a little small, but it works (and I do not have a huge mouth). The ring to adjust the restriction on the inflow of air (the most important part for IMST in this context) is difficult to turn beyond a certain tightness, and in fact I don't believe I'll be able to tighten it further than what I have it set at. I don't really care about the air outflow adjustment because I believe it can remain completely open for this particular exercise, which is only about inhalation. The mouth guard can be removed easily for cleaning, making it easily to sloosh the entire thing under a tap and then leave to dry until it's next needed. My mouth tends to fill with saliva during the five minute exercise, and I have to be careful none of that gets inside the device, or it gets noisy and messy. A marginally different design might help avoid this but it's hardly a big issue. But other than all this, this seems to be useful for what I need, and comes recommended.

Easy to clean and practical
Work out a routine and stick to it. Lung capacity has improved, and I'm more able to hold a constant speed when cycling without gasping for air. Use alongside any other breathing traing techniques. Easy to dismantle for cleaning. Due to its compactness, it can be carried around and used when convenient, for example waiting around for a bus or waiting for places to open, or any dead time.

Good but could be better with softer mouthpiece
Great item, although mouthpiece quite rigid would benefit from softer plastic im of a certain age and missing a few teeth so maybe im the issue

EXCELLENT GADGET!!
I Like the ultrabreathe, It is an excellent product! After having been dyignosed with TB i had to take Very Powerful Antibiotics for two years, but they didn't work. I had to have an Op called a wedge-section ( which is cutting off a cake like slice of my right lung) while still under Anastasia they byopsed to check they had it all. Things got more Scary as they found CANCER as well. When I was awake they told me they would probably have to operate to remove more or all of the lung!!! They did further byopses of it and found they had removed enough tissue. Having Asthma, Emphysema and COPD, my lung capacity was small and weak I had to do something about it, so I bought this: ULTRABREATHE. Only had it a few weeks and I am feeling the benefits!! ( The Doctors told me: As we get older some of us become very lazy breathers and just expand our rib cage to breath. Instead of breathing using our diaphragm first then expand our rib cage). The Ultrabreathe when used properly, It forces you to first use your diaphragm then expand your rib cage in one perfect motion. It's starting to help my breathing big time!!! I DEFINITELY WOULD RECOMMEND THIS GADGET 100% !!!!!!
