Aromatherapy: Essential Oils in Colour

A really great book, I love learning about aromatherapy and this has added another level of depth to my knowledge. I like that I can instantly see the profile between relaxing/ calming oils and stimulating ones. It also makes it easier to compare to similar 'relaxing' oils to see which has the highest levels of esters.

This book is packed full of useful information, it includes the profiles for 90 different essential oils, each oil is listed both in a comprehensive index and illustrated alphabetically throughout the book. A Caddy profile shows, at a glance, the chemical constituents of every individual oil listed in the book by using a colour for each chemical, which when viewed appears very much like a pie chart. There is a small section on the human body systems along with a list of chemical families and how they can benefit each system. There are also clear instructions on how to interpret the profiles which makes it a useful reference book for novices and qualified aromatherapists alike.

I use this book all the time in my aromatherapy studies. No matter how many other books I read, I always come back to this one for it's well presented, easy format, quick to reference information of a most important, but often overlooked type. A broader spectrum, updated version would be more than welcome, but in the meantime, don't hesitate to buy this book of essential chemcal info.

While Caddys book isnt exhaustive (there are still plenty of oils not covered) it does offer the information in a colorful accessable format that helps when you want to see what each oil is made up of. My course reccomended this book so I eventually bought it and I think it is a handy book to help you learn chemical constituents

I loved the way that Rosemary Caddy decided to discern beautifully each essential's oil attribute by the colour/colours that prevail. It is very helpful guidance cause you can find with a glance what essential oil you can use for each purpose. It is worth to be bought especially for professional use.

Great book for aromatherapists, probably not worth getting unless you know the chemicals in each oil - not a beginners book I don’t think

The author had the great idea to make visual charts with the chemical composition of each oil... it is a quick, and useful read!

This is a great book for those of you who are learning aromatherapy and constituents in the essential oils. It shows very visually what the oils are useful for. The colors are assigned to different aspects of the essential oils. It is a thin book, easy to read and a great reference for beginning to learn especially if you like to make blends with your oils. I would recommend this book without hesitation. It makes a great reference and addition to my library of books on essential oils and aromatherapy.

This book is awesome! Each page highlights a particular essential oil and shows you, in color on a pie chart, what the major attributes are. You see at a glance which oils are relaxants and which are stimulants. You see right away what the chemical composition is so you can be aware of any possible safety contraindications. The descriptions talk about the properties, uses and which body systems the oil assists. It's all backed up by the colors on the chart. It's an excellent book for a practicing aromatherapist like myself. For someone who is only playing with the oils, this book might not be as useful as what you really need to know is contraindications and you can find that online.

Each oil is broken down into the Caddy Profiles: Stimulating, Balancing & Relaxing. Easy to understand and follow - coming from a current Aromatherapy student. Table of contents, therapeutic properties index, glossary, references and more! A must have in my opinion!
