Cheap and effective
This rode boom pole does what it says on the tine- at one of the cheapest I found on the net, it's both sturdy and adaptable. It's extendable, and it is possible to feed wire through it as well. The microphone mount screw is metal so you know it will be long lasting. The pole it light, comfortable to hold, and definitely an aid as well as a necessity.

This is an excellent product and very much as described
This is an excellent product and very much as described. It is however quite heavy, especially once it is fully extended and you add a mike and cable. I have given it only 4 stars for two reasons: firstly I think a neck harness of some type should either be included or at least offered as an optional extra as it soon becomes tiring to support again especially when fully extended. I fabricated one out of an old camera strap, which works fine. Secondly it only comes with two Velcro straps, which I assume is one for the top and the other near the handle, I think it should come with five one for each joint, this would remove the need to wind the cable around the pole which uses up more cable and makes it heavier and allow for one or two to be lost. Don't be put off by reviews which say it is difficult to insert the cable through the tube, it is very easy, but be mindful of the size of the plug, I bought a Pro-Audio XLR Male to XLR Female cable from Cables To Go and the plugs were too big, luckily enough I already had a cable from Chord Music UK, which fitted nicely . Be aware however that if you wish to use this fully extended then a 3 metre cable, especially if you thread it through the pole is not long enough, 4.5 metre would be about right, otherwise you have to do as I have done which is to add a 1.5 metre extension to a 3 metre or buy a 6 metre cable. Hope this helps?

Perfect, it’s RODE, enough said
It’s rode.... as always their products are brilliant, reliable and reasonably priced. This was cheaper here that second hand on an auction site. I have just got into filming and with equipment so expensive I’ve had to made some with what I have. I used this to hold my rode mic Go to use during interviews feels strong and isn’t too heavy. Also it’s 2m long which due to the present circumstances is perfect, don’t need to stand close to people or get up close and personal to attached a mic to the talent, win win

Lightweight and Ideal
To be fair, you will know when you're holding it in your hand and I suppose it could be lighter, but if you are holding this up for a long period of time it's light enough to not get tired too quickly. It has a good design, meaning you can put the microphone at the end and run the wire through the middle of the pole (if you want), reducing loose, messy and annoying wires getting in the way. (There are no instructions how to do this, but the rubber piece at the bottom comes off so you can push a wire and the connector piece through). Professional and worth the spend. But ideally this could be a lot cheaper. If you're on a tight budget, think about DIY alternatives.

It ok for beginners but
i wish they put some grease on between the metal so it doesnt eat away at the metal and ware out. I heard a lot of people say it breaks soon as you use it. i am waiting for my grease to arrive before i start using it. its an okay design but i dont think pros would use this its a little flimsy. i've only examined it and this is all i could gather but have not used it on a shoot yet. its def not what its hyped up to be and is heavier than expected. there are plastic bits which hold it together so the poles dont slip off but that is also cheaply designed and built. i think as long as you apply some grease to it and be gentle with it (which you shouldnt have to be) it will be okay. Also you will definitley not be running any xlr cables withing the boom pole! i dont know why they even advertise this as such. no xlr cable will fit through it.

Very good quality
This boom pole is very sturdy and comfortable to use despite its weight. You could get lighter poles made from other materials, but of course that means a big jump in price. A positive thing about the weight is when it's fully extended; you don't get any slack, which means you can move it pretty fast without any movement in the boom's structure. The only cons I have is the paper cylinder which the boom pole comes in. Now, I know it's not something you're supposed to use to carry it in, but I wish Rode had made some sort of carrying bag. Pros: - Foam grip - Shock absorbing rubber rings at each extension section - Two straps for securing external microphone cable - Possible to run coiled cable inside
