Decent quality set - I don’t mind that it is plastic and that was a concern I had.The pieces in the 4x weighted are massive, which is something I didn’t realise when I bought the set. I’d actually prefer them to be smaller and the same weight but that’s probably my fault for not checking. I will still play with them.Silicon mat is decent, seems very durable and malleable. The bag just about fits the pieces in. You need the box to carry them around anyway because they are so huge.It’s a heavy bit of kit so definitely don’t buy this if you plan to be on the go with it a lot.

SUPERB CHESS SET GREAT SIZE AND WEIGHT

Chess pieces are triple weighted as advertised, and feel precise and satisfying to move. I've not checked closely for manufacturing errors on them (it doesn't matter too much to me). Set also comes with 2 extra queens, back and white, for pawn promotion.Board is a good size and the silicone material doesn't warp or crease, and it can be rolled or folded into a very small space. Only thing to note is the drawbacks of the silicone (which I was already aware of), which is that it attracts dust and dirt very quickly and the pieces drag on the rubber when you try to slide them, making it unsuitable for blitz or bullet chess. If that is a dealbreaker I recommend going for a mousepad or vinyl board instead.The drawstring bags are nice as well. Suitable for transporting; everything can be easily fitted in a backpack or handbag, and I believe the board and pieces are tournament regulation size.I had a brief look at the strategy guide, but it was mostly stuff I already knew (how the pieces move, opening principles and things like that)I should note that at the time of writing this review I have owned the product for about a day or so, and played 1 game on it, so I cannot comment on long-term durability.Overall a solid recommend as long as you play time controls longer than blitz (or without time control)

I purchased the 4x new ultra heavy set. The pieces are huge and although made from a plastic/resin very high Quality. Would I say it’s the best chess set ever? Truly no, however without paying hundreds of pounds it’s fantastic.

Chess set received was all as expected, no surprises really. Mat is stable and attaches well to surface, and then rolls up easily into box provided. Pieces nice to the feel, a little light I would say, but nothing that would stop me buying again. All comes in nice box with manual. Quite a good tournament chess set.

Having played chess 60 plus years ago and now having some time on my hands, I thought I'd try to keep whatever grey cells I had, active.I love this Best Chess Set Ever....The weight of the pieces.The size of them.All brilliant and very very affordable.The company have hit the perfect sales pitch with me...The board is ideal for travelling. I thought I was going to have to buy a green/white square back up board but was pleasantly suprised when I flipped the black/white one over.I will probably buy a wooden board in the future for home use only.I forgot to say the set comes with 2 bags to carry the opposing sides in and if I every get to promote a pawn, it also comes with spare queens; a very nice touch.Definitely 5 star purchase

I bought this set because my young son likes to play but gets frustrated when knocking over small light pieces by accident. This has solved the problem perfectly and he's now regained interest. It fits nicely and looks great on our glass table too.
