Hard wearing
The metal rim makes it a tight fit compared to the paper filters, and the coffee flavour will be intensified by the oils coming through. Easy to wash, easy to use. Love it

Best alternative to the paper filters
excellent permanent solution to the expensive paper filter, fits snugly and does not effect the ease of being able to screw in the holder to the main tube part, cleaning it is a doddle, rinse under running water and give it a wipe and it is good to go for another cuppa java, the coffee tastes smoother too, I reckon more of the flavour makes it through this mesh filter compare to the paper ones, I had no problems pushing the water through into my mug, smooth and effortless, recommended

Only the metal filter
Please be aware that all you are buying is the metal filter, not the black plastic filter cap as pictured.

A must-have product
Excellent, makes coffee better than with the filter papers. It had a couple of sharp barbs around the edge, where the mesh reached the edge of the rim - but nothing that causes any bother during use. I will probably order another, to have a spare.

Works well
Works well. Just have to remember not to throw it out, as you do with the paper filters.

Not fine enough
The mesh does an acceptable job of filtering so long as you don't drink your coffee to the bottom of your cup. What it doesn't do like the paper filters is hold the hot water in the Aeropress until it is ready to plunge. Therefore what you get is weak coffee with some coffee sludge in the bottom of your cup. Sadly, I'm going to order some more paper filters, I hoped that a metal recycle-able filter was the way to go but sadly not for me.

An all-round bad experience.
Awful. Does not fit the 2nd generation Aeropress. Tried to return it but the Amazon return label would not scan at the post office. Terrible experience - I resigned myself to the fact I wasn't getting a refund and swapped my 2nd gen measure cylinder with a friends 1st gen. It worked but was more fiddly to use than paper filters. With those it's pop, done. The filter spills grounds all over the place and is a pain to wash every single time I want a coffee. To add insult to injury, the ring holding the filter came apart and it wouldn't even then fit my 'new' first gen Aeropress. Bin. Back to paper filters and no-fuss delicious-tasting fresh coffee. On the bright side, at least my friend is letting me have my 2nd gen cylinder back and I can't praise the Aeropress itself enough.
