lightweight, sturdy, good cutting blade
This is such a useful saw. I was able to cut branches up to 5" diameter with the saw sully extended. As I am an over-50 lady, the light weight of the extended pole is critical to make it usable for me. The pole has two places where it clicks into place for its full extension. So there are three length - both segments not extended, one segment extended,or both segments extended. You have to use one of those three lengths, as that is where the pole clicks securely into place. The cover for the blade is plastics, but it is a thick, hard plastic and so protects the blade very well. I was able to cut plum trees and branches of an oak tree. The blade is sharp and it is easy to use. I used a friend's cheap pole saw and the head snapped off on the second branch (3 inches diameter). I got this pole saw as a replacement, and it did the job - lightweight, sturdy, good cutting. No problems at all with it, just would love if it could extended a little farther. Recommended!

Wow! Superb tool.
Wow! This is a superb tool for such a reasonable price. My husband has broken ribs at present therefore I have been tasked with pruning all the trees (some quite large!) and I am not comfortable or confident with a chainsaw so decided to see if this would get the job done and I am more than delighted with the result. I have sawn through reasonably thick branches and been able to reach quite a good height with the telescopic pole which locks into place and even greater heights with the aid of step ladders. First impressions were that the tool wouldn't do the job as the blade does seem quite flimsy and bendy but it cut through easily and it is quite a light weight so no tired arms. I cannot praise this saw enough as it has saved me considerable money by getting the job done myself as opposed to hiring someone. It also comes with an excellent blade cover for storage. I have used it on a fair few trees with no signs of the blade blunting but cannot comment on longevity as I haven't had it long enough. Even if the blade isn't replaceable I wouldn't hesitate in buying another one as it would be a tiny fraction of the cost of hiring someone to do the job.

Great product , very versatile and robust!
On receiving the item, I was annoyed that it was not electric (as the Amazon product description had it incorrectly described as corded electric) some was going to return it back. Used it to cut back some conifers and a silver birch branches which is did with ease. The item is easy to use. extend and the blade can easily manoiver between follage and branch's. Good value for money! As I need to cut back trees once a year, does not make sense spending £80 on a electric one when this does the job with ease. Highly recommended!

An excellent product. The proper job.
I needed to cut some substantial branches. I looked at several pole cutters that turned out to be rope operated secateur type cutters on a pole to which you could add a saw. They all looked a bit flimsy. This silverline saw is the opposite...a heavy duty saw...on a robust three-piece pole. The saw cut my branches with ease. It is a proper saw, NOT a toy! In fact it is quite scary! Only comment; the advert says 6 teeth, I guessed correctly that it was 6tpi. An excellent product. I used it from a step-ladder so that I was not standing directly under the cut. It worked. I cannot see me needing to return it under their lifetime guarantee either.

Great little saw
I live and work on a farm and fishery. This is a great cheap item and has more than earned its money. So sharp and with some careful use it'll stay that way for several hours of pruning. Over hanging Oak branches 5"/6" inch are no problem, however you have to get yourself into a good position cause the blade is quite flexible. Works better on the pull stroke but you'll get the feel of it soon enough. Also as it's gone off slightly I've use it for clearing out Willow that grows in the water and is under the surface. I can cut most of it standing from the bank, so now need to fork out on waders etc. I can't say how it compares to other items but it's worked for us and probably the first item in a long while that is value for money.

Rather dissapointed having read so many good reviews
Perhaps there is a quality control problem, as there are many good reviews, and some that are not good, but mine is probably around the middle. First few things I noticed was the blade, which showed metal burrs on some of the teeth, is not a high quality blade as the first reviewer found with his. The fitting of the blade to the shaft is poor, born out by the fact people usually bought nylon lock nuts to prevent the blade parting company with the shaft. I found when tightening the wing nuts before use, the bolt just kept turning, as there was not even a locking washer to help the assembly from getting loose. The blade on mine only cuts on drawing the shaft towards you, not both ways as in the description, the teeth are cut that way, perhaps there are different blades on some of the saws? The blade is thin and can flex if you are not careful, especially when the cut is horizontal, but tested on 6 branches of different thicknesses it does cut through, though an oval branch 2 inches by 4 inches did not cut through like "butter", and nothing special as I had hoped. The extending handle seems sturdy enough, though on mine one of the buttons was stuck in, but with a little probing and some oil it eventually popped into place. The two plastic "clamps" to help hold the sliding shafts to lock simply add a little friction, so the pop out studs need to be engaged, otherwise the shafts would slip. If they are fitted, then in my view they should properly lock the shaft in place. Mine might have been a "Friday afternoon" product, but I have secured the blade with locking washers and nuts, and it does work, so I will keep it, but comparing the quality with the two pairs of Spear and Jackson anvil loppers I bought on Amazon very recently, this saw is a bit disappointing. I have ordered a spare blade at the same time as I ordered this, so I will be able to compare them once it arrives.

Its Sharp ,and easy to extend.
I needed this Silverline Telescopic Pole Saw after many of my own equipment was stolen, so waiting for the insurance to pay out I needed a cheaper pole saw just for a few overhanging branches to be chopped off I hate ladders and some of my garden's I work in are on slopes and its awkward with a ladder so I found this Silverline Pole Saw really great. Its not really for a professional tree surgeon, but for a gardener like me who needs this tool on occasions for height its perfect to take lower branches off or those hard to reach places. The blade detetches easily enough and then becomes a handy hand saw! .With a hand safe sheaths it's a good all rounder. Its certainly sharp too .A perfect buy for the amateur gardener or occasional tree pruning for a professional like me .The reach is not brilliant but adequate.
