Powerful, lightweight headlamp with good features
The media could not be loaded. I really like this headlamp. It is powerful, lightweight, has a nice beam, and good features.I fish at night regularly, so a headlamp is a "must have" for me. For several years I have used a Coast headlamp, and it has served me well. The only reason I ordered a new one, is because the coast started giving me trouble charging.First off, the Nitecore is much lighter than the Coast, which is all metal. Metal frames are more durable I'm sure, but for me the lighter weight plastic is much more comfortable to wear. The nice wide headband also helps.Other headlamps I have owned defaulted to "medium" mode, which is much too bright for some situations. I would have to cover the lamp with my hand while I clicked through modes to get to low.The Nitcore can go directly to red, then "ultra low" white, which are perfect for discreetly tying on a new lure, or making sure that stick is not a snake, without lighting up half the lake.If you do want to light up half the lake, it can certainly do that too. It defaults to "low" with the main power button, then "medium" ,"high" then double click quicly for "turbo." (You have to double click pretty fast, or it just cycles through other modes, same for SOS mode)The brightness and throw are very impressive. It is a nice functional blend of spot and flood. It's no searchlight or spotlight, but it does a great job illuminating a nice wide area, out to a pretty good distance. Even though the lumen specs are similar, it feels much brighter than my coast headlamp. The coast can focus to "spot" mode, and throw light a little further, but the Nitcore beam is much stronger and wider, going almost the same distance. It does a great job lighting up a trail. The beam is so wide and bright, that you feel very safe looking down a dark trail in the woods. You don't have to turn your head back and forth, because the whole area from the ground to the trees is lit up nicely.Durability will have to be decided over some time. My Coast held up to quite a bit of abuse over the years, and hopefully the Nitecore does also. So far I am very happy with the purchase.

Good light great value
I really like the size, weight, and brightness. The head band is wider than most, which is great. Higher priced lights should think about the width of the headband. Comfort and stability are just as important as brightness. The battery holds the charge well and the run time seems to be close to the advertised time specified. Only time will tell how it holds up.

Great for running headlamp
I use this for running very early in the morning. I've worn it for at least 1000 miles. It doesn't bounce around. Changing between the brightness levels and beam direction is easy, even with mittens on. I would have liked the head strap to be a little easier to adjust, but I won't knock any stars off for that. I charge about weekly after about 4-6 hours of use. (don't consider this exact).

Great headlamp upgrade
Bought to replace my Black Diamond storm 400 after the lens cracked from a short drop. “Less than 6 feet.” I’ve got to say this is one of the brightest headlamps I’ve ever owned, and works great in my line of work. “Aviation mechanic” pros: very bright, battery life lasts, “about 10 hours on high settings” and not to expensive for what you get.Cons: semi clunky controls, the auto dimming sensor and gets a bit warm. The controls can take some getting used to, for example; to switch it into “turbo mode” you double press the main button but not a quick rapid double press. “Can get a bit frustrating”.As for the auto dimming sensor, “which I know there are other complains about” it can at times get annoying especially when working in tight spaces. Finally the heat complaint. Keep in mind that when in “turbo mode” this light shines around 1200 to 1400 lumens. This is gonna generate some heat. Not enough to set your hat or hair on fire but enough to be warm to the touch. “Might startle first time buyers”Overall I think it’s a great choice for someone who’s looking to get a brighter flashlight without breaking the bank completely.

Perfect hiking headlamp, long battery life.
Great camping light, plenty bright for most hiking and low enough for around camp.

Nitecore for the win!
I'm an avid camper and long time user of the nu25, its a great lamp! I got the 43 because I wanted a lamp with a long battery life, And this lamp is great for that. It does however come at a cost, that cost is weight. I have several nights on trail with the 43 and you can feel the weight. It does not bounce, or slip around, It stays in place like it should. You can barley tell the 25 is on your head, the 43 you know its there. It has more bulk, which is to be expected. I don't find it to be too bulky, it has never once impeded any activity. You can feel the weight difference as compared to the 25, but its not too much. It doesn't cause any kind of strain.I love how bright this thing is!! And I love how the thought of the battery dying on a night hike never once enters my mind! I have not had it out in the rain yet, but the specs say it's pretty much waterproof. The charging port is sealed very well, If it did rain water damage would be the last thing on my mind. I've dropped it a couple times, didn't leave a scratch on it.I've only 1 con and that's the red light, there's only 1 setting. I would like it to be adjustable. For me, the 10 lumen red light is a bit to bright when I'm just laying in the tent or hammock. but for walking around camp it works well. So yes, I'd like to have more than 1 red light setting.Overall this lamp is pretty great, when it breaks in 10 or 15 years I'll definitely be buying a new one.
