Graphics are gorgeous!
Constantine 's character is really clear and we'll developed in this one. He's funny and easy to understand. You start to get gain an understanding between his somewhat sub par abilities and his human determination.

Better than average story
Better than average story, interesting art and dialogue... a definite improvement over the first "post-Rebirth" Hellblazer. Some beautiful art and snappy dialogue in this volume, which is a lot snappier than its immediate predecessor. If you enjoy DC's "least super" hero this is a good read, with occasionally beautiful art. The dialogue is still a little "Hollywood British," but that's part of the charm.

In Medias Res
For good or ill, we're firmly in the middle of the story here. Events pick up from the previous collection (referencing Swamp Thing and Abby Arcane without explanation) with no real chance to catch up before we are thrown into a new set of adventures and introduced to still more characters related to the djinn. Constantine is somewhat likeable (and almost heroic) here protecting his friends and innocents thrust into his world. The djinn, in contrast, are brutal creatures relishing in violence and bloodshed. The story also does not have a satisfactory end but leaves us to pick up the next collection.Like other recent DC books, this too features art by a number of artists. The art changes drastically from issue to issue or every other issue making it hard to recognize characters at times.A further note, Amazon often treats comics with little care. If you prefer your comics without bends, dents, and broken spines, purchase elsewhere.

This new one is missing something
I've never had a problem being captured by a Hellblazer story but for some reason this book was torture to finish. I didn't care for the art and coloring in part 1. I found it too murky and perception seemed off. The whole book chasing thing was weak and John seemed uninvolved, passive aggressive and apathetic all at the same time. I kinda got tired of Merc holding Constantine's hand all the time. John needs to go back to see the Horrorist for a bit of waking up.

Good, wish it was better
Call it 3 1/2. I want to like Hellblazer. John Constantine is one of my favorite comic book characters mostly because he's extremely flawed but still follows his own sense of justice and right. I think its the storylines that drag things down a bit. To me, they feel disjointed and at times non-related to whats actually going on. Tangents for character can be interesting, but a tangent for the sake of a tangent is just filler. Hopefully the series gets better
