Great Product! Cheap Price!!!!
Im gonna have to give this winch 5 stars.... I usually dont even write a review for stuff I buy on amazon and I must say I buy a lot. I ordered this winch with 2 day shipping and received it in 1. I have a winch bumper made by shrockworks and while this wasnt the easiest thing to install... It was one of the more easier thing's that I have installed to my 2010 4runner trail edition. I took my truck 2 days later to rausch creek in north easter PA. Had a great time until I was teatering over a rock under 2 feet of mud! haha Needless to say we pull out the winch cable and tied it up a medium sized tree. a couple of short bursts on the winch and I was out of the mud. It was almost too easy! Now when I ride I will keep the activator switch hooked up before I enter an area and keep it in the window so I can control it.I will say one slightly bad thing about this winch package though.... I need 4 slightly longer bolts as my winch bumper has thick steel right in front for where it sits... Went to Lowe's and picked up 4 of em for 5 bucks... not bad. Got some lock-tite as well so it NEVER comes un-done.Bought this with 2 bud built shackles(very nice and cheap aswell), and a high-lift jack for around 50 bucks which is a great price. and works realy well! One last thing... this winch obviously isnt a warn... but if your not doing expeditions across Antarctica then save yourself 800 bucks and buy this heavy duty- highly reliable winch... You'll be happy you did!

works well a lot of pulling power
works very well other than remotes get water in them and has to be replaced if you use when raining

Pretty good Winch for a great price.
Purchased this for my 2016 Jeep JKU, Wasn't sure to go with this 8,500 or a 9,500 winch. Decided on the 8,500 as it weighs around 22 lbs less than the 9500 at around 72 lbs. Going to replace the wire rope with synthetic rope to save a little more weight plus it is safer. Should be more than enough to get me out of just about any situation I might get into.Very easy install as the solenoid is already placed and wired on the side of the winch. Just had to bolt it to the front bumper and run the wires to the battery.I didn't use the supplied hawse as I already had an aluminum one on my bumper, The supplied one is painted black and is pretty heavy.Connected the remote control and it started right up.Looks to be nicely made.

Great winch for the money
Have used it at least a dozen times between self recovery and recovering other vehicles. It resides on my Land Rover usually loaded down with gear. Heated up once and it stalled. Let it cool for a couple of minutes and it got me over the obstacle. Has always fired off whether I'm in Moab in July or a down pour on a 10,000 foot peak in CO. It's Not a $1000+ winch. It's an entry level winch as described. I've had mine over 4 years now, still working, nothing broken. It's been drowned a few times through deep river crossings and has always worked when needed. It will stall now and then if pushed. Let it cool down a couple of minutes and it will be back to work. I've never had an issue contacting superwinch. They've been prompt to get back to me.Take the bad reviews for whatever you think it's worth. If your looking for a decent winch under $500 this is it. You want a faster winch with a nice lasting paint job, spend over a $1000 on one.I have no ties or connections to Superwinch. Just used their products over the years and believe them to be a good, reputable company.

recovery winch
Have used this winch only once so far to remove a tree from a friends dock , what a mess, it was a giant cucumber magnolia tree, smashed his pontoon boat , had winch on the front mounted to my f 150 4x4 pulled that bad boy tree right off the dock and up the bank ,no worry s at all , my truck was shure squatting under the load ,couldnt have done it without the winch as there was no manoeuvring room to pull it otherwise. So far so good ,should have got one a long time ago !That tree will be heating my home for a couple years to come ,Thanks Super winch for a good product !

Great winch for the money, but has flaws out of the box!
I was in the market for a winch to mount on the deck of an open car trailer and even though I did not want a winch rated at 8500#, this winch was far cheaper than a no-name winch of a lesser load capacity, so I bought it. Out of the box this winch is HEAVY! I think it's close to 85LBS. When I initially went to mount the winch on the deck, I found that you also need to purchase the mounting plate because the steel piece that the cable glides through (that comes with the winch) will ONLY bolt onto the mounting plate and not the front of the winch. The mounting plate was an additional $90+ and weighs 20LBS in itself. Here come the important details... To mount the winch, you have to pull all the cable (free-spool) out of the winch to get your fingers into the tiny holes to fit the nuts into. No big deal. Here is the first problem I had with the winch. My buddy and I engaged the winch to coil in the winch line and it didn't work. We checked all the connections and everything was fine. Once I hit the top of the winch with my fist, it started right up! I didn't use the winch until weeks later and I had the same problem with the unit not working. Once again, I tapped the top of the winch and was able to pull my first car onto the trailer. As soon as I got home and had some tools in front of me, off came the plastic box that covers the main battery leads. I could not believe what I found. Three of the six nuts that are used to fasten something electrical were laying at the bottom of the wiring box and the other three were loose (like hand-tightened loose). Once I reattached and tightened everything the winch worked flawlessly.Aside from the wiring issue, my only other complaint is that the handheld remote is only 15 feet long. This is a perfect length if you are inside of your jeep and the winch is mounted to your bumper, but if you are by yourself and trying to steer a car while winching it onto an 18' car trailer you're screwed. Maybe I should have spent the extra $100 and bought the Superwinch S5000 with has a 30' remote. Go figure.
