Feelings Blob Cards (Blobs) Cards – 7 May 2008

A wonderful teaching aid, simple, evocative and personal, The simple drawings are multi-layered with each individual seeing their own story or circumstance reflected back to them. I use them to ellicit reflection on how emotions have affected individuals and it helps people to find words for difficult situations that they were previously unable to voice. They can be used with all age groups, and a word to the wise, best used by those experienced with directing and holding those who may be distressed by emotional trauma.

These cards are one of the strongest allies I have in the counselling room. I have used them with young people and adults alike and the benefits are always positive and helpful. They enable clients to articulate feelings and particularly to identify emotions and causes of events. Many clients know that 'something is wrong' but are unable to unpick their feelings. The Feelings Blob cards have proved invaluable time and again at doing just that. A fantastic counselling tool.

I've used these a couple of times. In the right hands, in the right context, they can be a very useful tool.

I love these cards. They are great conversation starters as well as good for emotion identification. The pictures are universal and work for lots of different uses.

Not a bad little tool to discuss feelings in groupwork, though had to remove about a 3rd of them as the images would have been misconstrued by teens so think these work better for under 10s or over if you select in advance.

Good set of emotions and ideas of how to use them in group and one to one. I have use code them and they've given us an emotional literacy of our own like "falling in a hole" increasing the feeling of communicated empathy.

Brilliant purchase. Enables the children who I work with to tell me where they are emotionally without the need for words. Also comes with activity suggestions. Haven't tried the suggestions, but they look great. Useful product for ELSAs, pastoral assistants, LSAs (esp 1 to 1), consellors... in fact anyone who works with kids and emotional wellbeing.
