Brilliant machine. I purchased this as the VAX Platinum Power Max Carpet Cleaner I currently own takes more time to clean it after use than it does to clean my carpets, plus they are left damp for days after using it. I looked online at the reviews of the Rug Doctor machine and it got really good reviews so I thought I would give it a try. So glad it did, it has left my carpets practically dry and is an absolute breeze to clean after use. No clogging of the brushes and to be honest I was really quite shocked at the dirt it removed despite cleaning the carpet I tested it on earlier this week. If you are thinking about buying a carpet cleaner you won't be disappointed. Worth mentioning I did phone Rug Doctor support as I couldn't make up my mind on whether to buy this one or the Trudeep version, I was told the only difference is the hand held tool so I opted for this one.

I typically rented a Rug Doctor machine from my local supermarket every year ahead of Christmas, so I'm familiar with the process of carpet deep cleans... But we recently gained a new puppy addition to the family who has been having accidents. Just after renting one again for £70 for 24hrs (with the detergent and enzyme) the puppy has a serious accident on the newly washed carpet. Rather than rent the cleaner yet again I took the plunge and bought this unit. My goodness... It was better than the rented unit by far. I was shocked at how grim the waste water was after redoing a landing area which had only been done three days before with the store rented unit. Out of curiosity I did the living room again and found that this unit pulled out much more dirt from the carpet. Dirt that the store rented unit was obviously missing. The unit was far less noisy than the store rented one (the store one seemed to thump the floor when in use), and this unit left the carpet much dryer (probably pulling the dirty water out better rather than leaving it on the carpet). This unit is less heavy than store rented units too, but the down side is that the fresh water tank is smaller so needed an an extra top up to finish a medium sided room. The attachment for stairs fits in easily but the coupler is made of plastic, which contrasts with that awkward metal one on the bigger rented units. Overall, this was great value for money, and reassuring to have on hand with the puppy still house training. The ease of use, and it's ability to fold the handle flat makes it easy to store and trivial to use more often to ensure we can keep on top of hidden carpet grimness. Very happy with my purchase. Wish I'd bought one years ago.

So easy to use and does a brilliant job

It is most effective if the amount of dark, brown water in the waste tank is anything to go by, on what was otherwise a seemingly cleanish carpet. The machine is quite heavy and thus can be difficult to move up and down stairs. The fill tank is pretty small, so plenty of refilling is needed on a bigger job. The waste tank is not so easy to clean out without dripping dirty water on the floor, so it needs to be done carefully and flushed out. Only tiny hands will fit through the discharge outlet on the waste tank, so I can't clean it out completely. The upholstery attachment is quite difficult to secure in place but it is nice and long. After first use, my light brown carpet is quite visibly cleaner than before.

I’ve bought many cheaper ones and failed to get the job done. This is the best I’ve ever had and the handheld part just as powerful. Also doesn’t leave the carpets wet dries really quickly. The attachments easy to assemble tad noisy obviously but with good tunes headphones it’s quick work!

After using another well known brand,2 machines in less than 12 months ,i took the plunge and went for a rug doctor, and I'm glad I did. Plug and play is the word,unbox open handle, fill it up ,plug it in and away you go. It really is that easy. 1st the cons which there are a couple 1 it's a wee bit heavy 2 tanks are a bit small Once you get used to using the machine these problems don't bother you. Now the pros 1 the suction is brilliant it dose what it says on the box 2 easy of use,pull it towards yourself and it dose it's work,use the trigger on handle to dispense the water 3 easy to clean waste tank big pour hold so a hand can reach inside if need be 4 easy to fill with water and cleaning fluid, the cap for water container is the measuring jug 5 big chunky handle with water dispenser switch placed just right 6 a hose that can be stored on the machine or separately, long reach and good suction, fiddly to fit at 1st but once you've done it a few times easy The carry handle is a great idea. Easy fit water and waste containers The fold down handle is a great idea,along with the hight selection Overall a great machine UPDATE Be careful the design is wrong concerning the handle, IT SNAPS you pull back and tilt to push forward after a few uses the handle snaps
