Carson HF-66 MagniShine LED Lighted Hands-Free 2x Magnifier, Black

I’ve been cross stitching for many years but have found my eye sight is definitely reducing and I was struggling especially when sewing on black. I decided to order this and give it a try. What a difference! The magnification is excellent and I could easily see the holes and threading the needle was a breeze. The unit itself is well made and not cheap feeling. It did take me a bit of trial and error to get the cord length right for me. I also found that when I was sewing while relaxing on the sofa it was actually easier to turn the magnifier on its side and not use the legs....this put it just where I wanted it. If I’m sewing at the table then I use the legs. This is probably just me but it works. I use the light in an evening and it does give enough illumination although I do have a spot light at my side since our lounge lights are not overly bright.It needs 3 AAA batteries not included. As they are led lights I don’t think they will be too heavy use. Having said all that I’m super pleased with this gadget and I hope it’s extended my sewing by many years.

Why didn`t I buy one of these earlier? it has made my daily newspaper fun again, I only have one good eye and that has a cataract and it has been miserable to say the least. I tried it with my normal distant glasses on but it was better wearing my computer glasses. The optics are superb and clear (not like some cheap magnifying glasses you can buy) I`m so glad I didn`t buy the cheap one. I wasn`t sure if this style would work or if the lanyard thing was a gimmick but I can tell you the system works a treat, being able to sit in the armchair with one leg up and the paper rested on that leg is very comfortable and of course leaves you hands free to turn the pages or drink your cuppa. My wife makes cards and small trinkets and has tried it out and loves it (now where can I hide it so she can`t find it :-) I think a 3x one might have been better with my distance glasses but at least my computer glasses are small, light and comfortable. All in all very pleased with the purchase and the next day delivery. Thank you Amazon for such a good selection to choose from. This should get me bye till my cataract is sorted.

Provides a large, magnified, illuminated viewing area without the semi-obscuring larger magnifying feature on cheaper magnifiers. I found the latter item to be rarely used and significantly limited the reading area.

Bought for my wife who has taken up sewing and embroidery again. Better than magnifiers with an inset more powerful lens that isn’t needed and cuts field of view. The magnification is about right and the built in light helpful. The feet can slip a little with baggy clothing as they rest on the chest but it doesn’t happen much. My wife really liked this magnifier in use.

I use this for cross stitching. Have tried several variations of lights and magnifiers all at lower prices and all proved to be, for me, a waste of money. This one is lightweight but sturdy, easy to focus light exactly where needed and level of magnification perfect.

Have not opened this as it is a gift for my dad. I have a similar product minus its rubber feet so not as stable these days. Pretty sure this item will be beneficial and affords the hands free alternative when trying to enjoy a book without the constant moving of the glass. Appears to be well made and not too heavy, the small bonus of not having to contend with the annoying inner magnifying area that is only a distraction anyway. Love that this item has been awarded 1st in choice in the USA .
