Nice quiet drive at good price and capacity
After 3 Seagate HDD failures within weeks it's time to move on. They weren't even that old! This is being used as a backup within a USB housing on Linux Manjaro KDE.Nice and quiet. TBH it hardly spins up unless it is accessed for the occasional backup. At the same time I subbed the internal disks that failed with fanxiang 4TB nvme SSDs as data drives. We'll see what longevity is like over time.

WD Red Plus 6TB
I bought this WD Red Plus to use with a Synology DiskStation DS124 1 Bay Desktop NAS. Buying the 2 separately I saved a considerable sum of money. I therefore anticipated some difficulty installing and setting it up. I was wrong. Installation and setup were very straightforward. The drive, in use, is completely silent. So far I am very pleased.

Very robust and long lasting.
I have four of these in a server running on Raid. they are 8 years old and still working well. This latest purchase was bought as a spare for the four in the server in case one fails. So far I have not needed it and it remains on the shelf ready in case one fails

Great disks if they get delivered.
I'd write a review if the 4 x 8TB WD Red disks had actually been delivered. But generally speaking, the WD Reds are usable for a home NAS.

WD Red Plus 6TB NAS 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Good Media Drive (So far)
WD Red Plus 6TB NAS 3.5" Internal Hard Drive reviewI bought these to replace Seagate drives that I've had nothing but trouble with the past few years, A. being ridiculously slow and B. lately just completely dying on me after just a few months use.So far the WD Drives have been good and the speed is reasonable for spinning rust HDD's, around 160mbps copying largish media files and they're very quiet in use, I use these for Plex and they are more than good enough for that, the test comes with time and seeing if they last better than the Seagates did.I will report back in a few months if I have any issues. From what I've read there's been quite a few instances of people buying drives listed "New" and the build date on the drives being somewhat older than when they bought it thereby lowering the warranty period, I'd suggest it's always best to go on the manufacturers website and check with the serial number which is easy to do, these had a build date just a few weeks before I bought them, so absolutely fine.Time will tell but so far I'm pleased with the WD Drives.

Trustworthy Storage
I have been purchasing HDDs for many decades now and I am sticking to the Western Digital brand because I trust WD to reliably store my data (all personal, including many TB of family video). Some HDDs are on 24/7 with constant access and can get hot, especially when the ambient temperature is high during summer, and I choose WD Red for these more demanding uses.As a personal user, I carefully pick the size and style (e.g. Green Blue Black Red, Red Plus, Red Pro) to give the best price per TB and performance for intended usage. I am paranoid about preserving data and have a rigorous strategy of redundant usage and multiple backups which I have had to prove on occasions due to human error.I do not expect HDDs, from any brand, to last forever though some are still going strong after 20 years with no hint of degradation. In my experience, a few % of HDDs start to show signs of problems after 5 years, and I constantly monitor the raw read error count. These WD HDDs keep going reliably with 100% data integrity for years after the first signs of problems, allowing me time to choose how to retire/replace. I have never had a WD HDD fail catastrophically, it is always a graceful degradation, hence why I trust WD to look after my data.
