I bought this for a welder who carries large sheets of metal. This has made the carrying so much easier. The magnet really holds on, so you only have to balance the metal sheet with the second hand. In fact I only gave 4 stars for easy to remove, because once the magnet attaches, it holds on fiercely. I even caught the welder in the driveway trying to remove a dent in the car hood with this. It's a great tool.

Stronger than expected

Very helpful for unloading small parts from plasma table. Has a nice rubber grip And stronger than you would think. The parts in the picture are hot from cutting. And one inch steel Plate. Pick them up with ease and secure. To release, I just tip it On its side. Unloading is so much easier and quicker Well, worth the money.

These are much smaller than expected and pull off very easily. Could be used for picking up small metal objects (screws or paperclips) but don't trust it with heavy items.

This magnet has strong holding power for knife blades against a belt grinder, for knife making. I bought it in favor of less expensive 100-lb magnets, thinking I would need the extra 160-lb holding power of this device. I haven't tried a 100-lb magnetic holder for comparison, but I can tell you the 160-lb one is fine for my purposes. I haven't had this long enough to comment on its durability, but I inspected it and torqued it around in my hands. The handle seems to be firmly attached and the magnetic attraction seems to be as advertised.

I had several old PCs that needed to be thrown out / recycled. My concern was for all of the data that remained on the old hard drives. I used this magnet to quickly wipe all of the data off the old drives. I tested one drive to make sure it was cleaned/wiped and the magnet did a great job. This might not be why you want to purchase this magnet, but it worked perfect for me wiping the data off of my old hard drives.

Strong magnet. Do people not understand that they must remove the black magnet protectors for it to work?
