TurboTax Home & Business Tax Software 2017 Fed+Efile+State PC/MAC Disc [Amazon Exclusive]

I have used TurboTax for many, many years. I like it . . . BUT I suggest that you NOT download or install the "free" start-up Quicken that is offered free with this purchase. This latest version of Quicken deleted my previous version and then refused to recognize the password on my Qdata file. Essentially, Quicken takes your data and refuses you access. Unless you have your old Quicken disk for the previous version, you will become totally dependent upon this latest on-line version. DON'T DO IT! The TurboTax 2017 program itself has worked OK for me--but AVOID the free Quicken program.

I have been working on computers since 1983 both personally and on the job in a government position. I have also had a online business for many years so I am not a novice (nor am I an expert) but having used TurboTax for nearly 20 years I can honestly say this years version for 2017 taxes is probably the worst experience I have ever had with any software product.This CD Version software is simply not ready for prime time yet it continues to be sold and even when you have it installed, if you have issues installing it, you most likely will have issues updating it using the normal mode of update when the software is opened.For those of you who did not encounter any issues installing it, good for you, I am glad you received a non-problematic version but based on the feedback here so far, I am not alone.After spending several hours trying to get this installed, I found the following instructions at the Intuit website which basically acknowledges they have a problem with the 2017 version - I cannot post a link to it as the entire feedback will be rejected so here is their suggested solution:Right-click on the CD's "Setup.exe" fileClick on "Properties"Then in the "Compatibility" tab select the checkmark for Compatibility Mode, and set it to Windows 8then OK at the bottomThen Right-click again and "Run as Administrator"Unfortunately, after trying this several times, it simply did not work for me. I then tried restarting the PC and going thru the steps again, still would not install, finally I used a free software program called Ccleaner that clears your cache. After clearing the cache, I then restarted the PC and was able to install the program. This was not the end of my woes with this "not ready for prime time software". So do not waste your time trying multiple times without clearing your cached and restarting the PC and then using the steps provided above.Now I cannot get it to update. Yes, I read the instructions and cancelled, then instead of updating upon entry I clicked 'do this later' and then used the online link and click on "Check for Updates" - It starts downloading but then kicks over the "waiting for installer" issue that seems to be the primary problem with this version.Here is my suggestion to Intuit. Obviously you have issued defective software for 2017 or else why would you be posting various "solutions" to the 2017 problems? How about being a bit proactive - provide a 50% rebate to all those verified purchasers and a download link to a fully functional version that does not require multiple steps to install and update? I would not be surprised if some law group would be looking into a class action on this if you continue to sell defective product and do not make some restitution and resolution for those of us who have already purchased it. Maybe then I would continue using your product after this year, but that is a BIG MAYBE.

I've purchased turbotax Home& Business for many years now. Each time they have put in a little less effort into getting it right. This time is no different but may be the tipping point where I look for a different program for next year. This time, if you like working with the forms directly, you will find that you will not be able to make some entries unless you go back to "step-by-step" approach and enter them there first and then go back to "forms" approach to continue. There are several other issues as well but why bother—they would just come up with some lame excuse as always.Do you remember when things like "quality" and "loyalty" mattered? I do. This baby was pushed out too soon—you may have to pant and blow to get through the contractions on your tax forms this time.

I've spent 8-10 hours on the phone, a lot of it on hold, talking to people at Amazon and Intuit--trying to get the TurboTax download to install. The software goes through an install process, then aborts. I've tried it probably a few dozen times. I finally found a person at Untuit who told me that Windows 10 install is a known problem, but they haven't shared it. Here's the work around. Go to the downloaded file (in your Downloads). Right click on that file. Click on Properties. Click on Compatability. Change Compatability to Windows 8. Click Apply. Click OK. Then left double click on the downloaded file. At that point it should install the TT17 application. It should work on your Windows 10 computer running as a Windows 8 application.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT - it is not ready for use.I used Turbo Tax many times years ago & loved it - especially its ease of integration with the Quicken data I spend all year maintaining. Turbo Tax 2017 does not integrate with this data - DON"T BUY IT i you don't want to manually re-enter all this info!Even worse - the Turbo Tax support staff (while very polite) has essentially the same technical skill level as anyone reading the instructions in the program. Which makes me concerned whether their tax staff has any more knowledge than I do. VERY DISAPPOINTING, as it was a great product at one time.
