Q: Is the orange truly safety blaze orange? need it for hiking during hunting seasons.

Caution: If you have the flaps up, you will be flashing white. Not a good idea during hunting season!

Q: what makes this wind proof?

I'm overseas at the moment, so can't check the material. However, the outer material (polyester) and the fluffy lining definitely make it windproof. The only way wind could get in would be if The hat was too big for your head, or The chinstrap area was not tight. Regards Frank

Q: Can ear flaps be folded up and strapped over top of head?

Yes, and it makes you look like Elmer Fudd. But don't walk through the woods that way in November or you'll look like dead Elmer Fudd. The lining is deer ass white.

Yes it's pretty warm, but not waterproof
