I just like the stuff
KENKO Matcha- premium Matcha IS DELICIOUS!!!I am no matcha expert, I just like the stuff. I have liked matcha for about 10 years and my personal opinion is: Good matcha is probably one of the best flavors ever. This is great matcha. When I opened it, the first thing I noticed was the smell; it smelled sweet! It was earthy, because it is ground up leaves after all, and there was no hint of seaweed, which you can get with lower grade matcha. The color matched the label. I have tried it hot, cold, with and without a splash of milk. The taste is what I consider what true matcha is supposed to taste like. it is sweet and smooth and makes ice water a bit more refreshing. I keep the matcha in the refrigerator or freezer, but it can be stored in a cupboard.I have used culinary grade matcha like green food coloring, it adds a depth of flavor and doesn't die your mouth colors as you eat the Christmas/St Patrick's Day frosted cupcakes. I use a long time favorite recipe and adding a spoonful has never thrown off the cooking chemistry. You can make muffins, cakes, cookies, ice cream, etc... or just sprinkle a little on top.The Matcha you get at most coffee shops is a Matcha Syrup, if you want that same flavor you will need to add lots of sugar to your drinks.WHY THE PRICE IS WAT IT IS:Regular tea preparation: Pick the leaves, dry the leaves, crunch the leaves, put them in a tea bag.Matcha Tea preparation: Pick the leaves, de-stem the leaves, de-vein the leaves, dry the leaves, powder the leaves. There is extra man power involved in removing the stems and veins, and it takes longer to turn the leaves into a powder.*UPDATE*5 Days ago I received an e-mail, as I do with most products that I order on amazon, asking for a review. Attached was a PDF with information on what the product was, recipes, health benefits, how it's made etc... it was 8 pages long and I have printed it out for future use. All of the information could be found on the KENKO website (One of the reasons I purchased this tea was because they had an informative website) I encourage people to research what matcha is, before purchasing.People, please keep in mind that this product is powdered leaves, not dehydrated drink powder or flavored sugar powder. Real matcha does not disintegrate with water/milk like a chocolate milk mix, it floats in the liquid, if you let your cup sit for a long time it will settle on the bottom. the reason it is so healthy is because you are consuming the whole leaf and not just the water

Simple flavor profile
This matcha has a much more simple flavor profile, not as strong as others I've tried. Be careful not to overpower it with milk or anything and it'll be good! Would recommend if you're starting out.

I like it.
I don’t know a lot about matcha but I really like this. I got it because of the cat on the bag. It is very green and very good. I do 2 bamboo scoops in 3/4 cup hot water, mix it, and add 1/4 soy milk for a matcha late. Beats ⭐️bucks green sugar powder latte. This isn’t sweet but it doesn’t need sweetener. It is not bitter, I think. It might taste grassy but I can’t tell. Overall my little latte is good and I will probably order this again. It is expensive, like very, but it is good. The bag half fills an amber 12oz mason jar, maybe. There isn’t much here but I don't use much to make a latte either.

Good Beginner's Matcha
The matcha arrived fast, but while I was waiting I received a kind message from the company thanking me for my purchase. The tea comes in a small tin with screw-on lid so it stays fresh for longer. It froths easily even though my whisking technique isn't that great and I have noticed a significant energy boost after I drink it. The taste is very mild. It is neither sweet nor bitter like any matcha or other green teas I've had before. I do wish it had more of a "bite" to it, but the price, freshness, and vibrant color have made it a worthwhile purchase.

not lumps but a gelatin like gummy substance that is a residue of sorts
the below is what I sent to Sam @ Kenko Tea:I have been sipping Matcha teas for a number of years now and have decided to try one of your products... just received a 100g pouch of your 'Premium Japanese Ceremonial Grade' Matcha (Lot #C27AH-KE-03-2. 10) with a 'best by' date of 09/26/2019...Well, I opened your product's sealed pouch three days ago for my first cup... and, since then, have tried two other cups... one yesterday and one today, June 5, 2018... each time that I have made a cup with your product, a gelatinous soft green-like substance about 1/3 to 1/2 inch long is found at the bottom of my cup... not lumps but a gelatin like gummy substance that is a soft residue of sorts (all of the tea powder has been moistened and without that of a lump). I have found no such substance directly after whisking the tea but only found such after sipping to the bottom of my cup.ALL of my other matcha teas do not and have not had this problem other than that of my very first attempt at making my first cup of matcha tea well over 25 years ago... in this first cup way back when, I found that I had several powder lumps that developed because I had not properly prepared the matcha powder prior to adding the water...HOWEVER, in using your product, I have treated the procedures of making a proper cup of matcha tea just like I have been taught to do so over the years and have made sure, each time, that there are no lumps in the powdered tea before applying the water, etc.I have not had this problem that I have described above with any other product/producer other than in yours... I try to drink several cups of matcha each day and use various producers in doing so. I really am at a loss for the reason as to why this is even occurring other than that of a substance being introduced in the liner of the pouch to the tea itself or the gas that purges the oxygen before the pouch is sealed???... but, in any case, I am very dissatisfied as to what I have received in this one pouch of your 'Ceremonial' matcha tea...I send this in hope that no one else experiences the same that I have with your particular lot number as listed above.
