Excellent strings with much reduced finger noise
I like these strings and have been using them for years despite their high price. They are more expensive than comparable strings because the "lightly polished" (LP) finish on the wound strings means the make a lot less noise when you slide your fingers along them. I'm assured that makes them particularly suitable for recording; not a concern of mine, but I appreciate having to worry much less about that extraneous noise. Some people like the sound of fingers sliding along the strings when the player changes left hand position. These strings are for everyone else. I find these strings hold their pitch well and have a good playing life. (I have no way of quantifying that; it depends how much and how hard you play.) These strings do require some playing in. I would avoid using them in public for the first day or two. You may feel differently; I think the basses sound too twangy until they have been played for a while. These strings come with a composition third string. A singe filament of something other than the standard nylon. I'm happy with that, but if you are not then you can use the standard nylon string that the maker packs with each set as an alternative. (I'm still looking for something useful to do with thoswe spare 3rd strings.)

No Squeaks
Great Stings ! I've tried Hanabach, Knobloch and many more but these are the best

polished D'addario pro arte composites
A fine string. The string noise reduction works. I enjoyed the absence of that whistle moving along the string, In the first place it is good to lift the finger when moving along the string, but this string gives a bit more help with that. The string does not last as long, but, nothing for nothing!

For this price you can't go wrong
I still find D'addario strings to be a little nuetral in sound but the intonation and balance across the strings is excellent and for ease of play and very minimal fret noise, these composites should not be overlooked.

Good trebles, excessively mellow basses.
TLDR: Good treble strings: bright, powerful and pleasant. The basses squeak a LOT less. BUT… the basses are extremely mellow and totally lack power and sustain. Also, cosmetically these strings don’t look nice, especially the basses. Recommended if you don’t care too much what they look like and if you don’t mind a less powerful bass, but I can’t live with them and have replaced the basses. I played classical guitar as a teenager, but I’m now picking it up again after not playing for over 30 years. I always used Hannabach 815 high tension strings, as recommended by my teacher - but I’m now experimenting with others. This D’Addario EJ45LP set is the first “other” set I’ve tried, (though I’ve now replaced the basses with the unpolished D’Addario medium tension) so I can only compare against those sets. I chose this set for two reasons. Firstly tension: I wanted to try a lower tension to see if it made barres easier. The Hannabachs are marketed as high tension, and at a total of 96lb they are amongst the highest tension nylon sets on the market. These D’Addarios are “medium” tension, and in fact the lightly polished (“LP”) basses are lower tension compared to other medium tension strings (and MUCH lower than the HT Hannabachs). My first impression is that barres are definitely easier and less strain, even a full barre on the first fret. I was worried that the low tension of the basses would give fret buzzes when played loudly, but surprisingly they are better than the Hannabachs in this respect, possibly because the polishing also reduces the thickness very slightly. My second reason for choosing these was squeaking: I was having terrible trouble with bass string squeaks, particularly on the arpeggiated section of Villa-Lobos’ prelude number 4 with its sliding chord shapes. This set of strings has lightly polished (“LP”) basses to reduce squeaks, and as soon as I put them on and tried some sliding chords, the improvement was obvious - much better, with a LOT less squeaking without any adjustment to my technique. I don’t understand how some reviewers say there’s no improvement to squeaking; for me it was dramatic. BUT there are two main problems with this string set. Firstly, it was immediately obvious that the basses are definitely not as bright and powerful as the Hannabachs. When first fitted the difference was moderate, but became much more pronounced over the first few days. The tone of the basses is very soft and mellow, and they are profoundly less “punchy” than the HT Hannabachs to the extent that it’s impossible to get any power or sustain out of them. This is probably due to the polishing process combined with the much lower tension. After a few weeks, I have decided that I can’t live with the lack of power. The second downside to this set is that the polished basses ironically look dull, almost like a very badly corroded set, with a rather uneven appearance when you look closely, even straight out of the packet. This, I believe, is normal and to be expected, and is due to the polishing process that removes a lot of the silver plate and allows the underlying copper to show through. The 6th string is more silver, but the 5th and 4th look quite brown. If this matters to you and you like the look of shiny silver basses, then this string set is definitely not for you! The trebles are bright and strong with pleasing tone. This set comes with a choice of G strings: a conventional nylon one, and a “composite” one. I initially fitted the conventional nylon G, and it’s comparable to the Hannabach: perfectly fine. After a week I tried the composite G and this definitely has a tighter, less flabby sound than the conventional nylon G - especially higher up the fret board. It’s also really easy to play nice clear harmonics. When first fitted it perhaps sounded slightly ugly on an open G, but it has played in after a week or two. I now quite like it, although you should note that it’s a peculiar yellowy-brown colour (if that matters to you). Surprisingly the trebles are not significantly less bright or powerful than the higher tension Hannabachs. Another reviewer has commented that they thought their strings were fake, due to the coppery colour of the basses and the strange colour of the G string. But I had read both of these facts before I purchased so I knew what to expect. Also, the strings come with a code to earn loyalty points on the D’Addario web site (and Amazon gives you a second code as well). Both of these codes worked correctly for me, which more-or-less proves the strings’ authenticity. So I think that reviewer is mistaken in claiming that they’re fake. Other reviewers comment on the uneven, “corroded” look of the basses, but from the reading I’ve done this is a normal consequence of the polishing process (and the Hannabach web site says this about their polished basses as well). In summary, I really wanted to like this set. For me it solved the problem of squeaks but the basses mellowed far too much and became rather muted after a week or two. These strings would be great if you’re doing a recording, perhaps throwing the basses away after the studio session, but they are not suitable for concert performance due to the lack of bass power and sustain. I have now replaced them with the basses from the unpolished D’Addario medium tension set, which are brighter (though still not as powerful as the Hannabach). They squeak though, so I either have to work on my technique or try other polished basses.

Great strings
I know they cost a little more than normal D'Addarios but they are worth it. Less noise when your fingers slide over them. Last well.

Haven't tried other strings after found these ones. Strings have low squeking noise when moving fingers sloppily, very forgiving. Great sound too.

These are the best things I've ever played. I ordered them expecting only to get strings that made less squeak noise. To my delight they are more than that. 1. The tone from these strings is amazing, with beautiful, rich warm tones but not too dark. 2. They feel great. Very smooth. 3. Virtually no left hand squeak noise. 4. With their gold/copper hue they look fairly good. They come with 2 G strings, a composite and a clear nylon. The composite is not bad but I prefer the clear nylon. The basses steal the show, but the trebles are very nice. I highly recommend these strings.
