The Geordie's First Line of Electrical Defence
The Kewtech Mains Wiring Socket Tester has quickly become a key component of my home maintenance toolkit. While I haven't had the chance to test it on a faulty socket yet, its initial performance in checking safe sockets has been flawless, indicating its reliability. Living in South Shields, where living in a Victorian terraced house means there could be unexpected household quirks, having a tool like this on hand offers significant peace of mind. Simple, Effective, and Trustworthy Ease of use is one of the KEWCHECK103's standout features. It operates with straightforward indicators that make interpreting results a breeze, even for those of us who aren't experts in electrical systems. The tester is designed to be foolproof, providing clear diagnostics that help prevent potential hazards before they become serious. Compact Durability This tester’s compact design means it can be stored easily or carried in a toolbox without taking up much space. Its sturdy build is reassuring, suggesting that it will last through many checks and challenges - ready to prove its worth when a real test comes along. Final Thoughts: A Smart Addition for Every Household As of now, the Kewtech KEWCHECK103 has shown promising capabilities in maintaining electrical safety in my home. It stands as a proactive tool, awaiting its moment to tackle and diagnose any future electrical issues that might arise. For anyone in Shields or beyond, this socket tester is a prudent investment, ensuring that when electrical anomalies occur, you're prepared and protected.

Excellent little device, if you have any three pin electrical sockets.
I love this little device. I’m not a professional electrician, just a home gamer so I don’t have bags full of testing equipment. This came in handy when one side of a twin socket started playing up, initially working intermittently and then failing completely. This showed a faulty connection and on examination ⚠️ (mains isolated first!!) ⚠️ it turned out the bus bar bridging the two sockets had burnt out (later traced back to a faulty kettle). New socket installed and tested. Didn’t work. 🫣 rather than panic I plugged this little tester in and found that the neutral wire had pulled out of the terminal while wrestling with the re-fitting of the new socket. Wiring sorted I plugged it back in and it worked fine. The audible beep (and lack thereof when no power is reaching it) was a good indication that I’d isolated the right circuit at the consumer unit. (If in doubt turn the whole supply off!). As a ray to use diagnostic tool for professional electricians and avid home gamers alike, this is invaluable to have in your tool bag. It’s a lot less intimidating for noobs than the rather dubious practice of poking multimeters or continuity testers into the plug terminals. We grow up being told NEVER to poke anything into plugs, and only those foolhardy enough to ignore this advice grow up to become electricians! Once you’ve used it for a specific job, you will then run around the house testing every socket, and when all sockets are checked, you will go door to door offering to check your neighbours’ sockets 😄

Good basic socket tester
Perfect to check basic electrical safety and with its drop testing should be robust, better quality than many and for the price you cant go wrong. lights and sound to show faults accurately.

A Good Backup
I have one as my backup. I recently had to use it as my preferred choice, my ever faithful, Socket & See SOK32 decided to grow legs and vanish or should I say was borrowed on a permanent basis, as they do around other trades lads. I only have one gripe and that’s the audible tone is pretty pathetic just like many other brands including the big boy names so when using it to help find circuits on your own a loud one is a must hence why I HAD my SOK32. I would recommend this as it does what it’s supposed to and at 1/3rd the price of the SOK32 it’s a great price, however I will be purchasing another socket & see simply because I need something louder.

Neat little gadget
We had some issues with a couple of our plug sockets around the house. One had a faulty socket where we couldn't insert anything into the socket and the other had a crackle sound on the right hand socket and just wouldn't work properly. Rather than turn all of the electrics off I just wanted to make sure I turned off what I needed. The Kewtech socket tester emits a beep once inserted into a socket and turned on. Once you turn off the correct switch on the consumer unit, the beeping will stop. A nice and simple way of knowing there's no further electric running through the socket (I also used an electrical screwdriver just to be safe). What I really liked was that it gives you a really handy indication as to whether there's anything wrong with the wiring. It'll either give you 3 green lights and a constant beep, meaning all is ok, or it will give you 1 or 2 lights with a handy guide on the front of the unit to tell you what might be wrong. For the crackling socket of mine it was something to do with the neutral wiring so only 2 lights came on. It's a very simple to use unit, even for a complete novice like me. I managed to change both sockets successfully without electrocuting myself and it's thanks to this neat little gadget.

Simple and easy to use.
Everyone should have one. It could save you a call out fee for a potentially faulty appliance, when infact it is just a faulty wall socket.!
