Brilliant Compact, light weight full frame camera
Really love this camera, especially the image quality it produces and how small and compact it is. I sold my Canon eos R7 after getting this R8 as it is smaller than R7 and has a full frame censor. With RF small lens, like 35mm 1.8 or 28mm 2.8 it’s a perfect combo for street photography. There is no image stabilisation but i normally use the camera in studio or with gimbal so lack of stabilisation doesn’t effect me. Battery life is not great but not bad either considering the price and other features of this camera. Big plus is 60fps full frame high quality 4k recording in the video mode. Really loved the camera, highly recommended.

Small but mightly Canon camera and worthy 5D Mark II replacement
Excellent camera, this Canon R8. Coming from a Canon 5D Mark II, I still cannot believe how small and light it is, and does so much more and better than the 5D Mk II. As a keen amateur photographer, this camera does all, and more, than I would ever need from a camera. And with the flip screen, it has changed the way I take many photos out of hand. has And with a separately purchased converter, I am able to use my current lenses still.

Excellent Full-Frame Upgrade with Outstanding Low-Light Performance
I upgraded to the Canon R8 from a Canon 90D and couldn’t be happier. The difference in low-light performance is immediately noticeable — I can comfortably shoot at much higher ISOs with far less noise, and image quality remains excellent. Autofocus is fast, accurate, and reliable, even in challenging conditions. Video quality is another standout. Footage looks sharp and detailed, and the overall performance feels very responsive and modern. I’m currently using my existing EF lenses (50mm f/1.8 STM, 24–105 f/4 L IS II USM, and 16–35 f/4 L IS USM) with the Canon EF–EOS R Control Ring Adapter, and they work flawlessly. At £1119 on Amazon plus a £400 cashback from Canon, this camera is an absolute bargain for a lightweight full-frame body with this level of performance. Highly recommended for anyone looking to move to full-frame without breaking the bank.

AWSOME Camera
Best, most versatile mirrorless camera anywhere. Its light too, so paired with a prime lens like the RF 28mm, you have a very practical lightweight travel combo. Works well with other lenses abd has features you never knew you needed! If you are hesitating, don't it is AWSOME!

Amazing value. Excellent low-light full-frame sensor.
I upgraded from a Canon crop DSLR (800D). Still need to use it more, but the biggest difference for me is the low light performance. So much less noise at such situation, it's a treat. Reviews were raving about the AF compared to DSLRs, but I don't do people/animals so I don't need all the fancy AI tracking - on landscapes it often fails to tell where I want the focus and I have to help it. Not criticising the camera for that - just pointing out that different users appreciate different things. It's also small and light - especially combined with RF lenses. So far I have the 24-105 which is a nice all-around lens, and the 16mm pancake which makes the camera even more compact. As easy to use as any Canon camera, the only real drawback is the battery life, as it uses Canon's smallest battery, the E17. Fortunately, it's the same as my previous Canon, hence I had several extras and a fast charger for it, which makes the problem mostly moot. The price is amazing for what you get. It is an excellent full frame sensor (same as the R6 mk II) on a capable body for not much over £1000. I actually got it for less during the £400 off promo Canon had. The only thing that higher end cameras have that I would want is the in-body IS - but I can leave without it and save hundreds of thousands...

Excellent Entry into Full-Frame Photography
This camera offers outstanding value, especially for those transitioning from smaller sensor systems. As a long-time Micro Four Thirds user, I was drawn to the Canon R8 during a promotional deal and decided to make the leap to full-frame. I’ve been thoroughly impressed. Despite being a full-frame camera, the R8 is surprisingly compact, only slightly larger than my previous setup. I even added a grip for better handling, which speaks to just how small and lightweight it is. The image quality and overall benefits of moving to full-frame have exceeded my expectations. In hindsight, I wish I had made the switch sooner.

Excellent camera at an excellent price!
I have been a keen photographer for many years and have had a great number of cameras, from analog to digital. I would say the Canon R8 hit the price-performance point perfectly! While the R8 does not have all the bells and whistles, it has all the features to allow you to become a successful photographer. The image quality is great. The camera is very light, but comfortable to hold. Some review might suggest it does not have a mechanical shutter, but in real life, I barely notice any difference. Highly recommended considering the price point!
