good pliers missing some features
Good quality pliers with extra gripping capacity at the tip. These pliers are missing the rugged construction and square handles of some other Neji tools.

OK, so I’m gonna start this with my first confession being that the only reason I got these particular blowers was an alternative to the vanpliers slipped jaw, extraction employers, and what really drew me to them in all sincerity is that they’re very similar in design elements aesthetically to the snap on is vein is that may sound that is entirely the draw it had that widen flat area going up to the hinge or the joint after the hand grips or it’s flat and wide and most pliers kinda have that bit recessed away or not recessed rather but it’s more they’re more streamline but then this way it gives you that extra mass so there’s extra strength there and with very few exceptions almost every single toolbox tore I watch there’s a handful of things that are pretty much guarantees. You’re gonna find a dual 80 snap on ratchet. you’re gonna find one of those motion censored headlamps with the COV across the front and then the spotlight on the side that are rechargeable that sell on here for like 20 bucks in two packs and you’re gonna find something by VAMELIERS almost without exception and gear wrench combination wrenches so I’ve been wanting to try the vampires for a long time and because of my nature and I think somewhat my luck it seems that no matter what it is if I want it, it’s going to be the rarest version of. It’s going to be the most expensive the hardest to find you get the picture. Sure, I can get the vampires they’re readily available. They’re a little on the pricey side, but at the end of the day, their Japanese made tools and Japanese got to me like they know how to do things when it comes to building cars, motorcycles, guitars, and handle tools. There’s nobody I’d rather have her no no country of origin that I’d rather have than Japan and it has nothing to do with cost-effectiveness because at this point in time, we’re not 1985 anymore you’re gonna pay more money for that Japanese item than you would for a domestic or even a North American made item. I’ll put it this way. I’ve got the L 47 from snap on the long nose slick joint that took the Internet by storm. We’ll see how I like them. Once they come back they were sent to be warranty because the first I’m using them. The riff came loose on me and now you have to push the tips together or else they go sideways and contrary what some people say when I first open that box mind you I am a Canadian so obviously, but our coins don’t have a square shoulder at the rim there sloped or slightly rounded why is that burnt because the whole lifting a dime up by the rim thing not as easy to do as they show on the on all the little viral show videos and stuff it’s doable. You just have to kinda line it up a little bit more take your time because if you squeeze two hard words rounded it will pop right out, but I was doing it with no problem after using them. I was having a hard time grabbing anything with and actually anything that just needed to be held. they were great to just hold a nut or a Bolton place, but for the price of them and it kind of a waste really not to mention my very favourite pair of flyers at this point is another slip joint by ISP another Japanese brand they make one I forget the model number, but it’s a 7 inch I believe six or 7 inch pistol grip style three position slit joint and they’re not the 100% 90° angle version that you see around these ones have the jaws pointed at about a 45° angle which when you’re at your natural stands actually puts your hands just about right put it just perfect and they work incredibly well. There is tough as nails. I’ve used them the pool nails. I’ve used them to hold all kinds of crazy things while I cut and polish and use angle grinders. I’ve basically used them like vice grips mix with pliers, wrench, and everything in between those are by far the best players I own I think a close second to those are the easy red kiwis. I can’t say I’ve forgot about those. The kiwi pliers are absolutely phenomenal. They’re good enough. I’m gonna be getting a second set, but I digress what I’m kind of getting out here in the roundabout sort away is that I’ve got some experience and I’ve never been one for a slip joint channel flyers. They weren’t channel just joints, but I digress they were never my bread and butter. I was never a connoisseur. They were a necessity at times and all of a sudden here I have some experience with a few really notable options now the two big ones that we’re gonna be comparing these two are the snap bones in the ISP because all three are slip joint of these engineers are a bit smaller than either one of those, but I mean, they both got kind of their own little bit that they each got their own unique feature that makes them stand out. These ones are basically extractors and I’m gonna tell you something right now they work you may not be able to grab with enough force and have the leverage but if you can hold onto Durham, you’re gonna break the head off that faster before they sleep or break the pliers out to my understanding and correct me if I’m wrong, but the engineer brand is also who produces the vampires in the same factory by the same people the vampires are marketed for the North American market more or less, and the biggest difference is red instead of green and the vampires normally come with a bit of a premium that said to my understanding, there is no warranty with the engineer pliers where is with the they have a lifetime warranty, which after seeing what I’ve seen is worth the premium and had I’ve been able to find the specific pliers that I was looking for that this whole quest began with, which is the vampire version of these I would have never bothered with the engineer because there is a slight aesthetic difference, but for the most part, the biggest reason is that you have to be careful while using these for as an extractor because they’re so hard those jobs are so absolutely incredibly hard. What happens is that they’re going to cut into that fasteners head very easy, but you barely have to grab on and it’s going to leave it mangled and mashed the problem lies in when you let go when you grab again if you don’t line your jaws up just perfectly right the little lifted areas of metal from the divots as the jaws cut in and it pushes other metal up. What happens is those little raised ridges are enough that when you put the pressure and give it a twist that those little duckies sticking up will actually chip your your teeth pretty significantly the first time using them. I just grabbed a hold of a screw that was holding it an outlet just that the the cosmetic plate on the outside a very, very low tour application and it wasn’t stripped. It was just can I get the screw moving, and I had actually tried it with a different outlet and other players and essentially if I couldn’t get the corner of the jaw in the fastener hole like the where you put your hex bed or your Phillips or what have you and then get the bottom jaw on the very edge it wasn’t grabbed, and there wasn’t enough anything there that in there pseudo pan head that are very very, very flat their low profile excellent for what they do, but these guys didn’t even hesitate. I was legitimately shocked, and I took it the whole way out and then reinstalled it. The problem was in that as I was turning it at a certain point you get kinda excited, not paying enough attention and when I grabbed, it was a raised area from the Joe where they bid in and it actually was enough to chip to actually leave a couple of little chips now just like a drill bit or other types of screw extractors let’s not kill ourselves here they are a consumable item most grew extractors. You’re going to break them long before you ever wear them out. They are still a consumable day by nature are using sharpened edges, essentially to bite into a stock fastener to be able to remove itso it should be no shock that they can wear that’s they’re meant to right so that’s something you gotta keep in the mind like you want to take that into account now the main reason I didn’t go for the vampire one was ones that were really available at all were in sets of multiples and I wanted to start with one and just see what it was about and generally speaking you can get them as singles, but good luck finding them right so that wasn’t the easiest thing for me to do. I tried tried and I finally got tired of it and one day I came across these and I was kind of taken aback by how similar they were and I started looking and I’m thinking to myself I wonder and upon further digging and Looking come to find that sure enough they are the same manufacturer, or they are manufactured by the same company it’s just one is the domestic market and one is the North American market versions so after learning that it’s kind of the no-brainer will try it out and see how it goes. Hope for the best and if they are as good as everybody claims, then explore other versions and other models right and pay the premium to get the vampire version so that I’m covered with the lifetime warranty, but they might be something like I’d say the kiwi was just one of my favourite favourite favourite players but almost useless when it comes to nuts and bolts I’d say 25 to 50% of the time that I’m reaching for a flyer it’s gonna be to hold something down for just a really quick way to speed through using thread chasers not taps and does but the actual chasers to restore threads in the clean them or to hold onto something while I’m using the angle grinder if it’s awkwardly shaped a lot of little edges onto it that the role in my garage is after the third time you’ve went over your knuckles with the angle grinder probably time to grab a pair of pliers and normally when I’m using something with the angle grinder in that sort of way, I’ve got a pair of vice grips on a hose holding everything from leaking and so they’re not available to use or I just don’t wanna walk that far three steps, two steps too many when I’ve got something in my hand already you notice the theme here is I’m using a little bit of satire, but just very bluntly speaking truth while poking fun ex stereotypes the point of this is we’re all guilty of it. It’s figure out what you’re guilty of kind of address it right just food for thought but I digress back to the review so after being less than enamoured with the L 47 the long nose slipped joint snap bones that took the world by storm truthfully if they had the flank drive in the recessed part of the jaw in the back end, I think they would be as good as they clean, but instead, you got a traditional type of job back there with just a ration grab the things great but I don’t know considering the price I paid for them after shipping because I was in a hurry to get a set and I don’t have a snap on dealers personally so I ordered them through snap on online and I actually paid the five dollars extra for priority shipping I am real glad I did too holy moly but that’s neither here nor there and it doesn’t have anything to do with this review that’s just a critique on something that was supposed to be amazing that I’ve got a set of $40 ISP pistol grips that rock the world out of those. They’re the most accurate players I’ve ever owned. The jaws are literally perfect as far as lining up at the end and there is absolutely nothing and I mean nothing that even comes close to those pliers as far as performance goes, but when I’m reaching for these, I’m reaching for pliers in the traditional sense use on a nut or a bolt because that recessed stereo where it’s rounded with the big large that part of them is made for nuts and bolts that are half strip then it grabs and grabs good again you don’t want to be rough with them. You wanna have authority, but you don’t wanna be banging them or anything any sharp impact just gonna wreck them don’t be dropping them either. You drop these bad boys to the ground on a cement floor and whole baby gonna shatter like glass they’re just so hard right that’s something to be aware of. I don’t think there’s necessarily enough awareness around that kind of thing people want the hardest material they can without realizing that generally speaking the soft materials are flexible and the hard materials are brittle. It’s a trade-off you can’t get something this hard and rigid that’s willing to move and if you try to move it, it’s gonna crack think about spandex versus cement so back to the main part here so these aren’t I would consider your traditional pliers. They’re not for what you would use a pair of pliers for these are a replacement for an extractor, these are something to grab a hold of a fastener and get them out where you may not have room otherwise or were you just don’t have a leverage otherwise but you can grab with this so I can a spot that you couldn’t get reached down and get your drill in for whatever reason or a ratchet isn’t gonna work well these may just be the ticket they definitely work is extractors for better than the snap on now that’s not saying that the regular snap on slip joints might not be a good or sufficient extractor if they got the talent and talent group is really nice. I do like it, but it is not the same as this these players literally have as close to knife blades as I think you could possibly get without actually putting knives on a pair of pliers OK literally have as close to knife blades as I think you could possibly get without actually putting knives on a pair of pliers OK A And that is an exceptional difference and makes all the world of difference in practice cause it’s actually going to cut in and grab where nothing else will just keep in mind there as brutal as brittle gets right. You’re not gonna be the first thing your head off something if you need to throw a wrench, grab a wrench and throw it. You don’t wanna be doing that with these cause they will shatter and you’re gonna end up throwing a lot more expensive tools after it so it’s like that the snap ones are not an extractor. They don’t even think of working like one now you get a nut or a boat with an external hex Pattern. Do it OK now we’re talking but to use the tip in the way that these are designed the talent grip grabs great and it will hold what you’re trying to hold. It is not in anyway gonna offer you the same kind of because that’s purely depending on friction. It’s not depending on a mechanical hold. It’s just simple friction. That’s the big difference now the ISPs don’t have anything like that to offer. I also think that the ISPs have probably the best recessed part of the job so the part of the jaw that’s that doesn’t touch the other side when they’re closed. I think the best design is in the ISP Because it’s got the little rations to really grab and give that extra frictional. It’s got really large instead of being rations or steps in their angled as opposed to just straight rations so it’s gonna give you purchase it’s gonna grab whatever boat has left a flat because of my understanding if if if driver is designed properly, it’s not going to grab the fastener by the corners it’s going to grab it by the by the shoulders by the flats to prevent rounding it’s gonna put all the pressure on the flat sides and a lot of them that I’ve noticed tend to go with the opposite And practice so they grab at the corners basically and that’s where they purchase from but I digress at the end of the day. These things are actually way better than expected because when I first opened it OK it’s got a really fun very obviously Japanese packaging. It’s fun. It’s cool whatever But it’s left a lot to be desired as far as you look in and you see them and it’s kinda seriously these was my first thought they don’t look inherently expensive for the purchase price. They’re more than my ISP is their smaller plier. The vinyl grip covers are kind of cheap looking. You actually gotta take the time to really look to notice the machining on it and the quality of that machining just a quick glance. It looks more like a overpriced and overrated, but that’s what it’s about isn’t it? It’s not about all the flash looking pretty cause I want something to look pretty. I just get another one of those snap ones cause I think they are the best looking liar ever made the L 47’s With the green handle of the green is my favourite shade of green snap on better shades of green and shame on your snap on and like the ISP’s they just look and field apart, where these engineers are a step in the opposite direction as far as size goes so it doesn’t have a huge amount there to give you that first impression in the same way You pair that with the packaging and the way it’s packaged and what not it just feels a little different than it actually is but at the end of the day it ends up working out pretty darn good like I said I would’ve never actually went for these head I have Just seen them in the store and it’s funny because I started on the hunt for the Vample is long before I ever got the snap on. They were gonna be my alternative too and then it ended up being that I just wanted to try it and they were the prettiest ones and a slip joint so they offer a little bit of function to them that other pliers don’t necessarily have Because of that adjustability right all in all they’re gonna take stuff out in the situation specifically and engines, where is my main focus for these
