Little Black Classics Box Set (Penguin Little Black Classics)

I bought this as a gift and it came in perfect condition, the books include lots of classics (as the title may suggest) including not just novels but also collections of poetry. 80 little books will keep a reader occupied for a good amount of time. The fonts aren't too small, but if someone does have trouble with smaller text then reading glasses will be required. Otherwise, this is a very well presented and well priced gift for anyone, and will look good on a shelf too.

Box came damaged on the corner as if it had been bashed with enough impact to have damaged one or two of the books inside of the box but overall the product is good, everything is there and it’s a decent price

I love this box set. There is a great selection of classics that have a nice simple black cover - a must but for any book lover like me. When reading this I found myself a new favourite philosopher and a new favourite poet. The set includes a wide range of books from a selection of poems to a biography of Caligula. The only improvement I would suggest is that the box is too tight, but if you but it on its back with the spines of the books facing the ceiling you can yet them out easier. With that said I love the design of the books and the box - they really met with my expectations.

Truly unique. It's very hard to find a similar product from other publishers. Great addition to the Penguin Modern Classics and Great Ideas Box Sets and the books complement each other very well. These three box sets combined give you a very wide range of the finest literature available at a reasonable price.

The books came (from India) in a timely manner and undamaged. All the volumes were there. The selection of readings is wonderfully varied, from Western classics to Eastern dynastic poetry. The selected excerpts are well chosen not only to represent the author but also as worthy readings in their own right. Penguin translations are always first-rate, and these volumes are no exception. If you are looking for an introduction to basic literacy, this is a good start.

I started looking for one book and bought the whole box set instead. And I have to say that I am just delighted at the mere sight of this wonderful collection of 80 different types of works of 80 well-known authors. I was a little skeptical because the reviews on Amazon.com, but i must that, my experience has been entirely different. 1. I received properly packed, not-at-all torn from any side box set. 2. The quality of books is great. The size, as apparent from the dimension of independent books, is a little smaller, as justified by the name 'little black classic', than that of the usual Penguin Classics. 3. All books are for keeps. This is one of my best purchases ever. Even though some titles may not interest me right now, I am still looking forward to exploring each one of them, as rest assured, these are all acclaimed works and loved by a variety of people across the world.
