NO colour run...brilliant.
I used to wash a very large patchworked, embroidered, machine quilted bed quilt...to lock the colours, remove any construction marks I might have missed and the "terial magic" stabilizer used for free motion quilting. Perfect...it did the lot AND the quilt felt fresh and soft. ps...I hand washed the quilt in my bath and drip dried it over the bath on a clothes airer. Crazy to try it, yes...but it worked brilliantly. Synthrapol is certainly not just a detergent. Highly recommend.

Great detergent for natural wool knitwear
Easy to use and really did soften the yarn of my hand knitted Nordic cardigan

Unsure if product or my quilt is too far gone
Not sure if it is the product or it is just not working for my quilt...it will remained stained

Just okay, other detergents are more effective.
Using Synthrapol to ensure some dyed fabric was totally clear of any unabsorbed dye before use was recommended by a friend because this detergent is unique in that it holds any dye particles in the rinsing water. After using an entire bottle I am of the opinion that any strong washing detergent works equally as well, in fact my usual washing up liquid took far fewer soaks than Synthrapol and is much cheaper. A note on shipping: this item took almost 4 weeks to arrive which is excessive. It wasn't psoted from the UK but from the European mainland, so if you need it in a hurry, it's not worth ordering at all.

Very disappointed that this did not work to remove colour's runs on my cream ottoman cover. I followed directions to the letter and it made absolutely no difference to intensity of number of runs on item I ended up using two other methods to remove/ reduce runs with limited success but still, these methods made a positive difference unlike this product. As synthrapol 's primary use is for stripping oils and finishes and removing excess dye after hand dyeing ( which I do) I will reserve judgement until such time as I can use this for other applications. 2 stars down as it did not work for one process mentioned above 3 stars as I didn't realize a product like this existed until I researched how to remove red colour's runs off cream cotton upholstery fabric, but I do have other multiple uses for this product It's not available in Australia except through Amazon from what I can see. So my 3 stars are high hopes ,it will make dyeing a lot easier with better results. I have about 30 items to dye, so will update once this is done

This product is very good and it was used to wash the “sizing” out of a linen/cotton dress before I used a Procion MX dye to dye the dress a different colour.

Worked great for a nylon puppet fleece that I use. It helped give an even dye job and is well worth the price. There was no unpleasant odor or anything. Love it!

Though I initially bought this for dying fabric, I find I used it often on brand new designer clothes to set the dye from THEIR processes so I can avoid having to be so "specific" with my basic laundering. Most of my clothing tags say "launder separately, inside out, cold/cold delicate wash" I have found that more often than not, it is due to dye color bleed NOT the fabric itself...I don't know about anyone else but I don't have time to launder every single item of my wardrobe separately lol...its not like I only wear a couple of different colors. I actually wear a lot of different bright "jewel tone" colors along with the basic darks so simply separating like colors is not recommended for many of these items either. So, when I buy something new, I wash it in this FIRST, according to instructions until I have no more bleeding. I have yet to have color transfer issues on my clothes after using this and mixing my laundry so I would say this works like a charm to set dye! AWESOME to keep your blacks actually black as well. :) Of course, once I treat my new clothes with this, I do wash on delicate, inside out, on cold/cold but not because of color run but just to keep them their brightest and darkest for longer. (I use detergent specific to darks etc. as well...I find doing these things and starting with this, my clothes look new even a year or more later, with no fading.) Using it this way, it makes it well worth the price! (because lets face it, it is pricey for such a small bottle...but not when you calculate the savings of your hard earned money forked over for a new wardrobe sooner just because of fading issues like your favorite black pants are now gray! This way you can at least hang onto things until the styles have changed enough that you WANT new clothes lol.) When dying your own fabrics, well...lets face that too, few hobbies are cheap lol so it is what it is price wise.

I use Synthrapol to wash anything I've knit with yarn that I've dyed. Synthrapol gets the excess dye out and suspends it so it doesn't absorb back into the knitted item. It works good on some stains you might get on your clothes, too.
