Furby (White)

I remembered running around looking for an original furby when my child was young. Fast forward a few years and I'll say this is an amazing toy with some cool upgrades from the original. He changes, can be nice, weird, mean, etc. But in the end, a very cute toy with an app for your smartphone that allows some great interaction. I remember the original furbys would get hot and smell like they were burning up from the motors - this has not happened. And the monitors for eyes are the BEST!Treat yourself, or if giving this as a gift, I'm sure they'll like this......I really enjoy my Furby!

We have a 2 and 4 yo, and this is a hit with them- the packaging says for 6+ but I'm not sure why. Our kids play with it and think it's funny and cute. They understand all the things it can do. However, it really doesn't "do" much, which I like. It is a simple, fun, interactive toy. A new family member that requires batteries and goes to sleep on its own! Ha!

I bought a purple one of these for my 7 yr. old daughter and a black one for my 9 yr. old son. They both loved them. But that is where the good part ends. After only 3 days, my daughter's stopped working. I thought "wow this thing really eats batteries." So I changed the batteries, Furby still dead. Tried some new batteries, these ones tested in other electronics to make sure they worked. Still no go. The Furby just inexplicably stopped working. So, I returned it and got her a white one. While we were waiting for her new Furby to arrive, my son's stopped working too! Same thing, change batteries, check batteries, change again, still no go. This time we tried 4 sets of fresh batteries, just to make sure it wasn't the batteries. I thought surely we can't have 2 defective Furbies?! Now my daughter has a working (for now) white Furby, and I have to return my son's black one. If either one breaks again, I'm giving up on Furby (sorry kids). Oh and in case you're wondering if my kids are really rough on toys, no they were both very gentle with them, even putting them back in their boxes "to sleep" at night. This toy is unacceptably cheap and break prone. Avoid this thing, at least until they fix this problem in a new revision or something.***Update***After searching the internet, I found the fix for this issue. You just have to push the "refresh" button in the battery compartment for 2 seconds. There's a picture in the instruction manual that shows where the button is (it's kind of hidden). Don't worry, this doesn't reset the personality, it stays the same. I'm changing my star rating from 1* to 3* because I still don't like that I'm going to have to remove the battery cover (2 screws that are a pain to get to) and push a button every several days.

Of cause, The Furby still can charm you even without the application or without smart devices. You can pet, feed him with your finger, talk to him, hug him, turn him up side down, even pull his tail. The Furby will response and will make different noise for each interaction you make.Also you can turn his personality by keep doing one interaction repeatedly such as- feeds through his mouth a lot to turn into Angry personality,- pull his tail a lot and turn him up side down a lot to change to Insane personality,- play a lot of music or take him on a ride in your car a lot to change to Diva personality,- gives him lots of hugs and tickle to change to Princess personality and- talk to your Furbyboom and interact with him a lot to change to Valley Girl Personality.That's five different Furby altogether into one single doll.There are so many ways you can play with your Furby. The ITEM I received was in a BAD SHAPE. It has a MASKING TAPE AROUND THE TOY WITH A TISSUE. Imagine TISSUE INSIDE. The ear is removed from the body, The battery compartment was removed. It has some damage at the head.. How could you send the product in a mess. The price is more than the normal price. cause I thought its MADE from USA. Then when I checked it...same thing with FURBY I bought here, made in china. I am really really upset with this product....I will ask AMAZON, regarding this issue. Its really irritates. me.

The furby was fun while it lasted. It malfunctioned for some reason fairly quickly after purchase. A brand new battery did not fix the problem. Since it stopped working would not recommend buying it at this price.

Ok, so I bought this for my daughter's birthday party. Of course, she got tons of toys, including a brand new Pottery Barn Kids bedroom. Among the guitars, the ukelele, a big storage box of arts & crafts (a big hit), board games, disney stuff, clothing, etc. The furby shined above all. Ok, I may have added extra hype that drew her near the toy, but whatever the reason, she loves it. I love it. It's so adorable I just want to hug it- and I did.It teaches the child patience, responsibility, and dedication. And, it's too darn cute,, I think I said that. So now, she wants more colors, and I'm a sucker for the Furby and buying her interesting toys, so I will shop for another Furby before it's out of stock, although that's too late, for Christmas shopping.Good luck finding one and hopefully you don't pay double the price. It's a hit.

Make sure the kid is old enough for this, or the kid is just not going to get it. The kid involved was just turned two. Wanted nuttin' to do with it. On the other hand, the Furby seemed to detest the kid's father; that was pretty funny! On the third hand, after spending the day with this thing, it was a little difficult to leave it behind: I got attached to the darn thing and it's not even alive. How da ya like that?
