Q: Would this be any good in a cinema? I'm autistic and noise from others distracts me easily. I wondered if this might be a solution.

This should work if the cinema has a loop system fitted to in the auditorium and the audio feed from the film is sent to it. My experience is, you may still get background noise, not from people but from electronics or mains hum. How good it is may depend on where you sit too within the loop area. The headphones supplied are not brilliant at keeping out noise. you may like to use over ear ones that will cut down on others around you.

Q: Adastra lr2 is this ok for hearing aids on the t setings ? don

The LR in LR2 stands for “Loop Receiver” which means it does exactly what the “T” position on your hearing aid does. It is designed for audio engineers to test loop installations, and it does it well. That said if you use a decent set of headphones it is absolutely perfect for watching favourite TV shows, but take note the PP3 battery only lasts for about 3 days if you do that.

Q: The description say it is for testing and setting induction loop. It isn't sufficient for hearing impaired ?

Not really, because it has standard earphones for normal hearing use, whereas proper hearing aids have special transducers for the ears of the hearing impaired people, so they pick the sound up properly. This unit is to allow normal hearing people to hear the quality of the sound that anyone using the loop system will hear.

Q: Can any advise me on the latency of this product, can i have a few using as inear monitors?

I cannot advise on latency, contact them directly, their customer support was very prompt when I contacted them. However, if you are looking for high quality sound output, try one before you buy more (the price is attractive). I purchased a unit to help test out the system (first installation) and had hoped to use as a listening device after for people who need a hearing aid but have not purchased one. It had excessive 50 Hz noise (hum) output as it was picking up the chapel electrics (went away when I turned off building power). Their answer to me when I inquired about the 50 Hz noise was that these units are really for testing out the system, not a high quality listening system (as a hearing aid is optimised for T-Loop operation). I will say that the receiver has a low frequency cut-off filter switch, I would guess designed for this noise. While it does reduce the 50 Hz noise, the resulting sound quality is very "tinny." Again, I want to say that their customer service response was brilliant but this is not the device for high quality listening in my book.
