I bought this as one of 3 water fountains for our cats. We've been using fountains forever including ones both designed for pets and designed decoratively. Caution on this type--it's painted and the paint will wear off into the water. At least for the few times you run it, keep it out of the reach of pets (though ours avoid it anyway until the paint wears off, as it's smelly to them). Once the paint has worn off, if you do use it as a pet fountain, clean it at least twice per week. You'll have to--it gathers grime very quickly with no filter. As soon as the ball stops spinning, if you refill it and the ball still won't spin, you've let it go too long without cleaning the motor. The motor is as easy to clean as every other fountain, though with the design, water will drip all over when you pick up the top part of the fountain to get the motor out. I probably won't buy this fountain again. Too much maintenance compared to the rest, even the other ones without filters.

Be prepared. There are no instructions for assembly. However, after analyzing for a little bit. I was even able to figure it out. Put the light up under the base and then attach the tube under the light. Add the water to the base. I used fresh spring bottled water and put a little bit of algae cleaner in it. It works great! When it starts to make a buzzing sound, you'll need to add more water. I love my fountain. It goes great on my altar.

The only problem that we had with this fountain was the placement of the light. We fixed the problem by placing it on a small flat rock so that it would be high enough to shine through the crystal ball. It only gets noisy if it is low on water. We are using distilled water and putting a drop of algaecide in it once a week. I love it!

Sadly, I was about to return it, because the ball stopped spinning. I solved this by replacing the pump for this one: Maxesla Submersible Water Pump 80 GPH (300L/H) Mini Electric Fountain Water Pump with 12 LED Light and 2 Nozzles, Quiet Water Pump for Pond/Aquarium/Fish Tank/Statuary with 4.92ft (1.5M) Power Cord, and now it works fine. I wish I could get a refund for having to replace the pump. The fountain is simple, but pretty.

I am so glad I opened up this product before giving it as a gift. The product was obviously not new and had already been returned, there was no packaging box at all, no directions and no way to tell how to put the unit together safely. I am sending it back and I hope you don’t get it!

There was no assembly instructions and when I chatted with the manufacturers customer service they just opened a ticket for me, weren’t apparently able to advise on how to actually assemble it. Once I figured it out on my own after much trial and error, it worked nice. My only critique at this point is that the ball sometimes moves quickly and sometimes it barely moves at all... wish it was more consistent. But overall, very pretty, not too loud, not messy.

Did not bother to even assemble looks cheap and worthless it’s not for me ordering something else. Sent this back day after getting it.
