I was like so I pay $89 for a plastic paper weight ...
what I ended up doing to get it to work was this, in this order1. setup a guest wireless access point. create one or enable it, whichever applies.make sure the password is easy like 9 characters or less.2. from a phone or tablet "not a computer, idk why!?!? I'm guessing it passes info to the alexa app"install alexa.3. in the alexa app use the menu button, goto skills, goto top right corner of screen. and clickyour skills. disable ghost skill app.4. goto bungie.net and revoke alexa privilege.5. reset the ghost speaker by toggling the mode button 10 times in a row.6. now from your phone or tablet switch your wifi to ghost companion.7. open your browser and goto 192.168.0.18. type in your serial from the back of the ghost speaker.9. select the guest wireless access point you created or turned on.10. type the password.11. you should see a install skill button click it.12. it should redirect and then open the alexa app right to the ghost skill. enable it.13. then it should ask you for permission to link to whatever account platform you will be using.14. next say "Alexa tell ghost to activate" then make sure you are close so she can hear you right, andstate the ghost speaker serial number to her. if done right ghost speaker will flash and speak.* I tried many times to do this from a PC and kept going in circles. I assume this should work on anytablet or phone with alexa installed. I happened to be using my fire table. but I have chrome installed.so I doubt a different phone or tablet would make a difference. but i believe the process passes someinfo of some kind to the alexa app during the whole process that if you are following the steps on a pcand a phone something gets lost in the process. hope this helps someone...

Cool if you don't care about the app...
I know Bungie, EA or whoever-it-is originally charged a bunch of money for this useless piece of garbage. I got mine for $10 after all the hate over this device and the price came down. I'm just using it as a dumb little doodad that is hooked up to my AV receiver so it automatically turns on every time the receiver turns on and off every time it turns off. It makes a cool little sound when it turns on and the lights come on and stay on (and they're not too bright where I have it). So in that regard, it's perfect...I could also have it hooked up to a smart plug like TP-LINK makes and have it turn on and off on a schedule or any other device that has a USB port if I wanted to...I know it's supposed to interface with some dumb app via Destiny and some people think the sound is too high or low and/or the app sucks. Since I don't care about any of that and will never use it. It's not worth more than $10-$15 honestly since the app and other things are so crappy so don't buy it for that. But if you want a dumb gadget that has little lights, here ya go buddy...Not quite as cool as the original Destiny 1 Ghost where the lights glow and fade....but whatever....

a stand would be great to hold it
Dear Bungie and amazon,we bought Ghost so we could have our own ghost present during game play cuse why not lol, it is well made, comes with all you need to use it with your alexa device and the instructions were simple to follow; however, a stand would be great to hold it. as for the skill i have had it a bit longer than the speaker. and i got to say its a lot of fun and help. But a clear list of commands would help as well as we have all seen our ghost play music in the action trailers so it would be awesome if Ghost could play music. not asking for words i know that takes up more data in music files than just the sheet music and all the vids its just the music any way. it be way cool to just have a jam going any time i ask Ghost. also would like to be able to ask challenges and events via each planet, also it be nice if ghost would speak all the game play ghost lines im sure you would have to do a lot of work for that but how cool would that be.

Awesome & unique Destiny collectible!
First of all: this is EXACTLY as listed - it projects the voice of Ghost when using the Ghost Skill through an Alexa device. That's it. Nothing else. It doesn't project any other commands issued to your Alexa as some people seem to have thought (and unfairly giving 1 star reviews for their misinterpretation). Secondly, it is extremely easy to link to your Alexa device and takes 5 minutes - again, not sure why people seem to have had issues and giving it 1 star for possible user errors. My Echo Dot and Ghost were about 8-10 feet away in the same room and they paired flawlessly on the first try. My box came with a paper that said instructions were updated and to visit a website to activate, which is what I did.As for the product itself, it's definitely a "must" for any diehard Destiny fan. It's super fun to ask it questions and hear the response - especially the snarky ones! The lights flash and pulse when he speaks, just like in the game. The audio quality is good and it sounds just like the Ghost we all know and love (even with the little sound effects). Looking for Easter Egg dialogues has also been a blast. Hint - we get a cameo from Sagira! In reality, you don't need this speaker to enjoy the Ghost Skill features, but it definitely makes it more fun. Should it have cost $90? No - but when considering that the plush Ghost in the Bungie store is $30 without shipping, it doesn't seem bad in comparison.PROS: It's an official Ghost that you can talk to! It's fun, and has some interesting dialogue. It's useful in game for equipment changes and saving loadouts without grabbing your phone and fumbling through the Ishtar app or Destiny companion app. The size is pretty accurate and is fairly lightweight without feeling cheap and flimsy. Bonus: can also be used as a cosplay prop.CONS: The flat color is extremely disappointing and not true to shells in game. The mold is detailed but there's no color variation and the tips aren't even colored orange as they should be (at least the photo DOES show this flaw). Next bummer is that it's corded, with no ability to charge and be wireless. In addition to that, there's an obnoxious red light that's constantly on while it's plugged in. And lastly, there's no stand, so he can't stand upright. The bland paint & no stand are the only reason for 4 stars - otherwise I'd have given a 5 just for the fun novelty factor.I definitely recommend one if you don't mind the price and some of the cons. I couldn't be happier, and can't wait to keep asking it questions. Also -READ THE DESCRIPTION! This is definitely just as described, so don't mind the crappy reviews.
