Complete Swedish Beginner to Intermediate Book and Audio Course: Learn to read, write, speak and understand a new language with Teach Yourself

Because this was a gift I don't know very much about it except what I learned during the ordering process and then some glimpses nd snippets once my daughter had opened it. I am a languague teacher myself and it seemed to be the most complete teach yourself Swedish pack I could find on Amazon; because of the CD's it trains listening and speaking skills,as well as reading and writing. The set looks and feels very professional and the recipient is delighted with it.

Book is very good so far. Learning alot of useful words and phrases. The only problem is I felt the advertisement didn't really say that there was no CD included, and I expected the CD to come with it, as it is pretty much useless without the CD. Still a great book and I downloaded the audiobook version on ibooks so I could listen to the dialogues.

It's a really useful book for intermediate level. The kindle format on the fire works perfectly. Easy to navigate to the question/ answer pages. The audio is in-build in a really smart way so you can listen while reading, and turn the pages etc with the audio continuing in the background. Would highly recommend - and I hope for the next one, perhaps the advanced level now?

I bought this book to hear the sounds of the language on disk fully expecting the disk and the book to be fully integrated but they are not. It may be that a much younger person than I could make real progress with the arrangement but this course does not suit me. The disk needs a book of its own and the book needs a disk of its own. I need to be able to go back a line or two or a phrase or two so that I may listen over and over again. This system takes me all the way back to the beginning of a section. So I was disappointed.

This product is wrongly described as having 'added learning features within the course and online', giving the web address to use to access this. On the front of the pack it tells you you can 'test yourself and learn more online'. When I tried to do this I searched the website and found nothing. I contacted the publishers who said 'this is an error on the book's cover and we do not currently have any additional online materials'. I would not recommend this to anyone. In addition, the paperback format of the book is not at all user-friendly as you can't keep the book open while listening to the CD or writing anything down. Very disappointing

I thought when I purchased this that I would be getting a complete course because there's a book and CD's. This is supposed to be a book that beginners could use to start the use the language, but even though I've been studying on my own while waiting for this book this is in NO WAY a beginners book. I've also had problems with the CD, when it finishes one lesson it skip to like the 8th lesson instead of the next lesson.

Practical and a quick way to learn a language. I've put the cd's on my iPhone so I listen to the conversations while working out and I'm amazed how much you'll be able to say and do in Swedish with just this one course! A must for Sweden lovers!

This is a very useful course in the usual Teach Yourself format. The main criticism I would have with this is that the vocabulary comes rather 'thick and fast' without enough time to assimilate those words before the next onslaught of vocabulary. I do however, like the scenarios and situations; it presents a lively introduction to Swedish culture and history; this enlivens the learning.
