Good quality solid seat
Not the cheapest but still excellent value for money. Assembly and adjustment for height etc. are easy and the stool/throne is weighty and solidly constructed. I have a K&M stool in the other studio and this Gibraltar version is in no way inferior - in fact I find the seat is, if anything, more comfortable.

Great for the money..
I had an old cheap stool I used for playing guitar really, the type with the pins that slot through the bar for hight adjustment. Well the bar snapped on a hole when I started drumming, and no I am not a heavy guy. So yeah I’m new to drumming, and I was then looking for a new stool? Man what a mine field, which one to buy, what do I need, I’m not a professional etc. Okay cheap holed bars are out, the write-ups suggest they snap often. Drum ‘throwns’ seem to go from £30 to £300... I plumped for this one as many folk recommended Gibraltar for build quality. It’s way better than the old one, yes comfy my butt is starting to make it’s own impression, I like it. It was odd at first having a shaped stool rather than round but you quickly get used to it. I marked it down on sturdiness NOT because it’s wobbly as it’s not, it is stable. There is one bug bare that I can put up with for the price. The seat can move ‘swivel’ as you turn, this as you are pushing against the profiled part between your legs as you swivel. I have tightened the wing nuts as far as I can without stripping the threads using a spanner to get more purchase, and it still moves a bit sometimes... Yes there are a few simple fixes if you are good with tools, but I don’t see the need it’s not going anywhere... One small bugging point then, that if you can’t live with, you have to spend a lot more... The fast adjust thing look like a lever in the pic, when in truth there is collar you can set with a drum key that won’t let the stool’s hight drop, it works well. Ironically it has a locator tab to stop swivel BUT there are two other joints that can swivel so..... All in all this is a great seat for the money, not cheap crap it will last, but then then swivel thing.... With hind sight I say that this is the least you must spend on a stool, the cheaper ones are a false economy. Who knows, if I become a famous drummer I might pay £300 for a real one...

Limited design option.
The seat is well made and sturdy however, it can only be used in a fixed position, by that I mean it will not swivel, this may be ideal for some players but I prefer it to have both a fixed and swivel option, the seat is expensive and I thought for the money this simple option would have been incorporated in the design.

Will not maintain its height.
The stool was comfortable enough and at first seems sturdy. However, during my first gig using it, the height of the seat dropped by about 2 inches! No matter how tight you adjust the height setting screw, the seat always seems to drop. I'm only 13stones in weight, so I would imagine that any heavier drummers would have big problems with this throne. Very disappointed considering the hefty price. My previous (and much cheaper) throne has a metal rod through the upright stand that prevents the possibility of the seat slipping down - a much better design which Gibraltar (and other high end manufacturers) would would do well to take notice of. Have returned the Gibraltar for a refund.
