I used the Flexx Boot brand of CV boot, since it's designed for the forces of extreme stretching. Not sure how a cheaper knock-off boot would hold up. I soaked the Flexx Boot in very hot, nearly boiling, water to make things a little easier. Then I smeared white lithium grease all over the outside of the cone. I set the cone on the floor, and used both arms to push the new boot over the cone to the very widest part. Then I put the cone over the CV joint and pushed the boot the rest of the way and it popped off the cone. Worked perfectly. Next time I would use a lot less grease or maybe a spray lube or silicone instead. The rubber boot is so tight that it scrapes every last bit of grease off the cone, and then when it pops onto the CV axle, it flings this grease everywhere. I made it unnecessarily messy.

Wored very easily. I was concerned that would be too big for my boot because my boot was a lot smaller than this cone but it just slid right on

This worked just as advertised. It was way easier to get my cv boots onto my axles than I thought it would be. It was warm enough outside to set the boots in the sun to make them more playable, and I used a bottle of soapy water to lube the tool up, and it practically slid itself on. Works great for bigger axles like my bmw x5. Buying this and two new boots for less than 10% of the cost two new axles was a no brainer.

It does work but I had to use a heat gun on the boot and wear welding gloves to force it on to it. It is difficult to use. It does work though. As long as you want a good workout.
