Works as stated, and very simple and easy to use, with a good little information booklet.
I bought the one with the transparent cover, glad I did, it helps protect it from people like me. This is a super little device, simple and easy to use, and within half an hour I had sorted my 50 or so cables, and found the vast majority were not data cables, and those that were, all but one worked fine. Very good value for the money, and worked on all the cables I tested. There are some that are not compatible, but the PCB would need to be huge to accommodate everything, but this is great for all the usual ones that plug into a PC.

A useful passive USB lead tester, but no cable current capacity display.
Useful to identify if cable has USB 2 and/or 3 data, or dodgy connections. I found one cable with no shield connection, and iffy other connections, a USB-A to USB-C cable with only USB 2 D+/- connections, and various cables with no data connections. I assume the ID LED is for micro USB OTG adapters. It would have been nice, for this to also included an estimated display of the total cable resistance of both power connections or the maximum power they can carry at 5V and higher PD voltages, for in-specification voltage drop; this requires measurements at both ends of a USB cable. This maybe cheaply estimated using a tiny microcontroller with multiple ADCs, to measure total cable voltage drop for the supply current to and from both the VBUS and GND LEDs (loads), to allow calculation and display on a tiny LCD or OLED display. I don't know if the active USB tester, of this brand, provides such power capacity estimation with its active data testing, and is limited to USB-A/C to USB-C testing.

Works great 👍
It tests usb cablesso you know if cable is broken or power only

USB tester - good to have it around!
It's a very nifty little tool. Very easy to use and easy to read. You don't need much more than this. It has a lot of functions and you can test a lot of types of cables.

A brilliant USB cable tester
This is a very clever and simple USB cable tester. As well as testing for all types of faulty USB cables it can be used to help distinguish between slow USB 2.0 cables, with D+ and D- pins connected, and fast USB 3.0 cables, with TX2+, TX2-, RX2+ and RX2- pins connected. The clear cover and stand protect the circuit well. My only complaint is that it does not come with a plastic case. The cardboard box is too small to fit the tester and stand. I happened to have a suitable plastic case (see photo) which fitted closely. I would have happily paid more for a fitted case to protect the tester. Otherwise, a great addition to my testing equipment and good value.

Super handy device.
I have a lot of usb cables. I also have no idea what some of my cables are rated for. Are they type c but usb 2.0? Type a to c and usb 3.1? Power only? This device solved all those problems. It was dead easy to read, well built and quickly and accurately gave me all the info I needed. At around £15 this is a bargain. It showed me a type a to c cable with a missing data line (which I thought was a dodgy external SSD enclosure), it showed me a load of my cables were power only and some of my type c to c cables were only usb 2.0. The only cable it couldn't test was a type a to type a cable, but an a to c adapter fixed that and it worked perfectly. Overall it was definitely worth it and it probably saved me some money on buying a new external ssd enclosure when it was just a faulty cable.

Finally able to find correct USB cable type
Item arrived quickly and well packaged. For just a few pounds extra over AliExpress price was able to get delivered next day. Bought this as I was having problems with a Meta Quest 3 connection to my PC. The Quest needs USB 3.0. Connected all my approx 15 USB C to C cables to this tester and found that not one was the correct type for 10gbs speeds, not even apple cables. Also, found it amazing to see how different the USB cables are, not all cables are the same, this simple to use device helps you find the right type. Great little tool to use when you’re unsure about a cable. Want one for just data, easy to find, need one suitable for PD, easy. Great quality, will use this more than I thought.

Very good and usefull. I had problems tot use a external hdmi lcd screen with works with with only one usb-c cable for data, video, audio. Only one cable worked. With this little gem i can immidiately see that all my other ussb-c cacbles dont do high data transfer. I recomment highly. There is included a small book/manual, which gives good additional information. It is very small, i couldnot find a pdf manual on the website.

I had a huge tangled pile of cables filling up a drawer and now I have cut it down to six! I am not an electronics expert but, with the very good little manual, you soon get the idea and can sort out cables which are not working and which are, say fast USB-C or USB-A 3.0 and which are the older and slower 2.0. It allows for a wide range of (male-to-male) combinations: from (at one end) USB-A 3.0, USB-A 2.0 and USB-C to (at the other end): USB B 3.0, USB-C (2.0 and 3.0), MicroB 3.0, MiniB 2.0, Lightning, MicroB 2.0. I don't think you can test USB-A to USB-A. The LEDs show the state of all the different pins and the manual helps you work out what they all mean. I felt like quite an expert after about 10 minutes of mucking about... The tester comes with a coin battery (you can in also plug in a power adaptor, which you'll have to source. I'm not sure it's worth it, unless you're going to test many hundreds of cables). This means you test the cables themselves: you can't plug them into devices and test them in action. This also means you are testing the type/speed of data connections and whether there is a power link. It won't tell you directly what the voltage/power capacity of the cable is - you have to infer that from the cable type (eg USB-C is 60W+ at 20V) or get a power meter. I recommend spending the extra €2 for the acrylic top, which is easy to fit. It looks a bit Heath Robinson but is actually a great piece of kit at a low price and much easier to use than I feared.

Franchement top !
