Great product and well made.
Well made and looks like it should last well. Strangely turned up for a concert and one of the other trumpeters had just bought exactly the same. Both obviously have good taste!!Last valve guard I bought lasted years (literally) so hope this one does the same. Looks like it from the quality.

Valve protector
Bought this to replace a Denis Wick version which had started to disintegrate but only after many years of hard use in my sweaty paws. In fact, comparing the two, apartfrom the embossing in the leather they are identical. Exactly the same pattern - to the millimetre - and the velcro is in exactly the same place so methinks they're made in the same factory. That's by no means bad news as the last one lasted a long time. To the uninitiated, these things are a leather cover, fastened by velcro, that fit around the valves of your trumpet. They protect the silver place or lacquer from both friction and sweat, so you wear out the leather, not the silver plate on your horn. Simplicity itself to fit, they also feel comfortable to hold too, giving better grip.

I won't be without these
After changing my 25 year old Earlham Trumpet for a brand new Yamaha I decided to get a Dennis wick valve guard. Whilst it fitted it wasn't perfect, anyway, recently I defecting a wrist injury and was wearing a wrist splint, with aluminium rods for wrist and thumb support. This damaged the old dennis wick valve guard, I notice when the surface began to get streaded! This wasn't good, but luckily there was no damage to the instrument itself. I believe that the guard did its job beautifully, and saved the finish on my Trumpet. So, I purchased this one to replace the damaged guard. Here's my impressions, firstly, let me point out that I'm not playing at the moment as I'm letting my wrist heal and will be playing again once my wrist has settled down. The fit of these guards is perfect on my Yamaha 4000 series trumpet. I've also got one on my Yamaha 4000 series cornet as well, and the fit is the same. They do add some bulk to the value assembly, but I don't think that's a bad thing. It keeps my fingers nicely away from the cold metal (which in the winter playing outside does make a huge difference) The soft leather helps to make the instrument softer to grip, and more pleasant to handle. Playing wise, the thumb bracket on the first valve slide does press against the guard when the slide is fully in, but I've not noticed it effecting the tuning.I'm very happy with these, the build quality is first class and I feel that it will serve me well for a long time.
