The device is solid and works fine. The documentation is poor as with most--if not all--non-American products. I have yet to experiment setting the gain independently from the volume. If it has a pilot light on the gain control to indicate clipping, I have not seen it.

I love this product. It is smooth, crisp detail for your vinyl. I love the fact it has an adjustable gain knob and one for volume. You can tailor the sound the way you want. It absolutely crushes a tube amp I paid a little more for and that tube amp isn't bad but not in this class. I use this for my 2nd setup upstairs as I have it paired with a Crosley C8 turntable and Fluance AI A41 speakers. The sound is addictive particularly on smooth jazz. I recommend this preamp as the go to nice budget preamp. Great job Manayo.

I hate to say it but I could not get this device to work with my LP120X turntable. The sound was very muddy and unlistenable. I ended up returning it and went with a bit more expensive pre-amp, and the sound has been crystal clear.

I recently bought a new turntable and needed a phono preamp. I bought the Pyle p9999 or whatever and lets just say I was not impressed with the static, distortion and muffled sound. I decided to buy this and it worked like a charm instantly. Easy to setup, good build quality, and not too big. Great item at a great price point.

Worked great for a month. After only 2 months and a frustrating amount of troubleshooting, I can confirm that the left output on this is the problem. It’s no longer putting out any signal.Otherwise, loved the light, the snappy on/off switch, the turn knobs are smooth, and it was plug and play. And the value for the money seemed great.

I like the fact that it actually raises the audio level of my turntable via the Gain and Volume knobs. However, the reason I’m returning this item is it is very heavy on the low end audio output. I made several speaker and tone adjustments on my Onkyo A/V receiver but it still made a substantial rumble that negatively affected the whole soundstage.Will be returning it for another phono preamp from another brand.
