RØDE PodMic USB Review — The Most Versatile Mic Out Right Now
The RØDE PodMic USB is hands-down one of the most versatile mics I’ve ever used. Whether I’m recording straight from my iPhone 16 Pro, my Google Pixel, or running sessions through Ecamm, this mic delivers every single time. What blew my mind is the fact that it doesn’t even need phantom power. Just plug in a simple USB-C cable, and you’re recording broadcast-quality audio in seconds. No interface. No mixer. No excuses. Content gets DONE. The sound is clean, warm, and professional — exactly what you need for podcasts, voiceovers, livestreams, or mobile content creation. If you’re looking for a mic that adapts to your workflow instead of limiting it, the PodMic USB is the one. This is the creator’s mic — powerful, portable, and ready for anything. In real life. 🤞🏾 #kreatesumn

Chic mic.
Really nice mic. Have been looking for a mic. I tried both the shure mv6 and logitech blue yeti. This rode podmic usb surpasses them both. Not as sensitive to picking up background sounds. Straight out the box and in usb mode works great. Lovely broadcast sound this gives. Excellent build quality. A bit on the heavy side. But atleast my mic arm can manage. So check the weight max for your mic arm if you plan to pick this up.

Top tier MIC, big fan
I have now been using the RØDE PodMic USB for a little over 1.5 years. I have tried the USB option but mostly rely on XLR as I have a GoXLR. This is a beefy MIC, I think if there was an intruder in my house...I may be able to defend myself with just this MIC. The quality is up there with some of the best for me. With enough tweaking with some audio setting you can sound just as good as the popular Twitch and YouTube content creators. I steam and play a lot of games and have had many people I sound so clear, and that It sounds TV (like a sports announcer) level of audio. Reached a whole lot of ranges of voices. Doesn't pick up to much background noise with some tweaking. Everything just fits perfectly. Also it's just sleek looking in general.

Terrible Mic and Company
I did a bit of research and found good reviews for this mic. People said it was high quality and it looked like it was. I ordered the mic, mic stand and pop filter all through amazon together for just about $320. I was using a blue yeti before for years but finally needed to get a new mic. The mic came and I set it up on the stand no problem although the usb-c wire they sent didn't work at all. So I ended up having to purchase my own usb-c wire. I got ones that were usb-c to usb-c and usb-c to just normal usb. They all worked but another issues persisted. I had a bit of trouble trying to get it to function using the software and everything but eventually made it work. The sound quality was much better than my previous mic and everything seemed awesome for a few days. The issue I began to have was the mic would just stop working while I was gaming. The only way to fix this was to unplug the mic and plug it back in which is very inconvenient especially when it could happen every 2-5 minutes or just once an hour with no warning. I contacted RODE support about the issue and thus begun the month process of being gaslit by them claiming it was my problem. I needed to send photos and videos of the mic working and not working and trying it out on different devices and using different cables. In the end nothing worked and I ended up finally getting them to allow me to send it back to them but not for a refund because they refused to refund me anything as it's not bought directly from them. I had to spend another $20 to ship it back to them and then just wait. Eventually I heard back and they didn't tell me anything about the mic or any issues but rather said they will try to send me a replacement but they didn't have any in stock. So I would have to wait even longer. Pretty quickly they got one in stock luckily and then I was sent the replacement mic in the mail. I set it up last night and gave it a try. Just like before the wire doesn't work but mine do. The program even though I had it set up before gave me problems. And the big kicker is that it is having the same exact issue as before where the mic just stops working and I have to unplug and replug it for it to work again. I did some research and found others have had many issues with this specific mic and with RODE's AWFUL customer support system. I HIGHLY recommend avoiding this mic and any RODE products for that matter. I am about $340 in the hole for this purchase and they refuse to refund me a dime.

Like the title says- versatile
In this price range, this is the best option for most people, especially non-professionals and startups in my non-professional user opinion. The microphone is built like a tank with a very premium feel and uses both XLR and USB C, making it very versatile, especially when on the go. I was surprised by the quality of the internal DSP. There are no noticeable delays when using either the XLR or USB C outputs. It works flawlessly with both Mac OS and iOS and the Rhode software is solid across the board, though some aspects are a little confusing to a newbie. using the USB C output, you can get get that professional sound like the pro's get. I love the external custom pop filter, which many people will not even need but still a great option. Based on the quality of this product, I will likely be primarily buying Rode products going forward.

Happy with my purchase!
I was really happy with this mic and the price was excellent. I would not have realized it was used, looked like new, even better than open box quality. At first I was skeptical with the shipping time I was potentially getting a knockoff but it is legit, shipped from USA and I registered for the 5 year warranty without issue. If you are hesitant and think you might return this I would not purchase from Sole AV as it will be easier to return through Amazon given their restocking policy. Overall I'd recommend it just be patient as shipping took one week and one day

Love this Mic, but a little more on the quieter side
I love this mic; it makes streaming and recording amazing. It's easy to set up and offers both USB and DXLR options. I've only ever used the USB, but it's fantastic. The only downside is that I'm a little on the quieter side, and I'm told I'm a little quiet, so I've to turn down everything else for streaming. Other than that, it's perfect.

Hardly any Background
Loving it! First off I love the signature look and style that they use across their products. It's just frikking nice to look at! Setting it up was easy. Ready to go straight out of the box. I was concerned for a moment when I saw the USB-C to USB-C cord that it comes with. Luckily though I discovered that I do have such a port on my laptop. But hey that was a close one. This review could have gone differently. Also I have a Rode USB mic from a few years ago which I was able to remove the stand from and hook it onto my new PodMic. So that was really cool since the PodMic doesn't come with any kind of stand. Tested it out on my DAW of choice and it sounded really crisp yet warm. Immediately had that nice podcast feel. I played with it while creating a new default preset chain for it which was also telling about the sensitivity. Yeah being close up on it is beneficial but I didn't feel that it was as serious as some people make it seem in the reviews. Maybe it depends on what you're trying to use it for. As of right now I'm not intending to use it for a podcast. I'm making recordings with it. It really doesn't pick up a lot of background noise and even when I normalized the recording there was hardly any background, which is even more awesome for when I go to isolate it and remove it there will be less to detract from the original quality of the recording! Yes!!! Yeah so I'm really happy with it and though I don't remember exactly how my first USB mic performed a few years ago, I think this PODMIC does better even though it may be intended for something different than Rode's first USB mic.
