Great gadgets
I used to hang a shade cloth on my patio. It works well. A bit difficult to close. But my husband figured it out.

Cool Idea and works OK - but there are caveats to be aware of.
It's a good idea but needs a couple tweaks AND BETTER/CLEARER instructions. The first few clips I tried- the center locking tab broke off; I also noticed that you need to be sure to use these when they are WARM or the connecting band between the disks is likely to break. Now, these can be used but you will need to use either a small Loc-Tie or a small bolt and nut to secure the disk. The Loc-Tie is easier to use and you can slip it through the weave easily while a bolt is going to damage the fabric more. Or you can use the broken ones with bolts/nuts on tarps or something the looks are important. The weave of the fabric your using matters. The center locking tab MUST BE ABLE TO COMPLETELY POKE THROUGH TO SUCCESSFULLY LOCK. AND, THE GRIPPER POINTS ALSO MUST WORK THROUGH THE FABRICS WEAVE TO ALLOW THE LOCKING TAB TO LOCK. I was using these on CoolaRoo shade cloths which are VERY nice and they have a strong weave. Other shade cloths with looser weaves will probably be much easier to work with. So, to use what I found seemed to work best is to FIRST- use the disk with the locking tab to make a hole through the fabric weave ( may need to use a knife to make the hole) this make it possible to get the tabs to LOCK. Be sure to have a pair of medium water pump pliers to apply pressure to get gripper points into their corresponding holes on the locking disk so the locking tab will engage. The connecting band between the disks could be more flexible because it needs to flex to properly align with the two disks. I pulled mine out of a cool workshop and tried using them on a cloudy, 74 degree day in the PNW and the first two disks broke the connecting tab as I tried to align the disks together. l warmed them up by rubbing the band between my fingers for a couple of minutes and that warmed them enough to be more flexible and didn't break. So, be mindful that these are designed to be installed in cool/cold weather. As far as durability, I will have to wait and see. I've just installed some and while there is a bit of a breeze, it's not really a test. I'll update this after I see how it handles some strong winds and then there is the winter weather's cold temps to see how durable these are.

Hard to close.
These are hard to get closed. They don't line up so it takes a strong hand to shift and close them.

Works great!
This product works great. We used it to place along our shade cloth so we could string the shade cloth over our garden. We have crazy winds where we live and this product has held up very well.

Very poor product!!
These suck!!! They don’t clip through the tarp, many don’t clip even with no material through them!!! They also break easily. Soooo sorry I wasted my money on these!!!!

An affordable and effective alternative to grommets!
Well, these things are incredible! A little hard to snap closed on shade fabric but once they’re snapped closed, they stay that way. Rather than purchasing an expensive grommet tool, use these clips instead! I’m betting that they could be used in other applications as well.
