The Housemaid's Secret Review: This is a superb thriller - “The Housemaid’s Secret” by Freida McFadden is a superb book. It is a continuation of her prior thriller “The Housemaid.” Readers who missed the preceding volume will still enjoy this one, even if they haven't read it. Anything that they need to know is told in this tale. This thriller is about a poor woman with a history of ten years in jail for a murder she did not commit. She did kill a man, but it was self-defense. The man was threatening to kill a woman he had been abusing. The jury at her trial did not believe the truth. As a result, she had difficulty finding a job as an ex-con. She worked as a maid. But on the side, he helped many abused women and got a reputation among those whom she helped. She receives a call from a wealthy man to come work at his penthouse. He told her his wife is very ill and she should not try to speak to her. When she sees blood on the floor, she approaches the woman, who tells her she has been brutalized repeatedly by her husband. She decides to help. However, as in all Freida McFadden thrillers, what appears to be true is not necessarily true; good people may be bad, and bad people may be good. There are always twists and turns in the thriller, with plenty of red herrings. Readers will enjoy this book. Review: twisty at the end! - The first part was painfully predictable. Part 2 was a good twist and was at least more interesting and entertaining to read the last part and the epilogue were jaw droppers.

As good as the Housemaid
The Housemaid’s Secret was just as addictive if not better than the first book. The tension builds quickly, and the pacing kept me glued to the pages. Every chapter added another layer of suspense, and the twists had me questioning everything until the very end. Freida McFadden does an amazing job of keeping the story dark, unpredictable, and impossible to put down. A must read for anyone who loves fast paced psychological thrillers.

WOW!
This book was a little slowed to start off, but had a very shocking twist at the end. Would recommend this series.

A struggle to hold the book open.
I detest having to struggle to keep a tightly bound book open. I loved the Housemaid and the paperback was easily manageable. Not sure if I'll continue with this book. Chapter one did not grab my attention like the first book.

Freida McFadden NEVER Misses! ❤️
Going into this book, I was concerned that it would not live up to the first one in the series. The first half of Part I was a little slower/dragged a bit, but I am so grateful that I powered through, because the twists and turns that followed were INSANE. Every time I thought I had figured the story out, new information unearthed, and I quickly realized that I had no idea what was coming up until the final pages. I’ve seen conflicting opinions on whether the first book is better than this one or not, but I feel as though I can confidently say that the shock factor and uncertainty of “The Housemaid’s Secret” has to be a winner for me. Once again, another 5-star book for Freida McFadden!

De esos que no se dejan soltar. Muy buena la trilogía. Tras unos libros de cambio, leeré más de ella.
