Useful for beginners.

I have only just begun using this book, so these are preliminary comments. I am an adult learner and complete beginner In German, but I am also a language teacher so am familiar with language books in general. IMPORTANT - this book is impossible to use without a teacher. Everything is in German and there are no explanations. I am particularly disappointed that there is no answer key at the back of the book (except for the tests - 5 questions per lesson) so I can't check my own work and have to waste my teacher's time making sure I have got it right. There are CDs with audios, on which the speaking is pretty quick from the start and there is no transcript at the back of the book, so again it's very difficult to work solo. Having said all that, the content is practical and seems to progress logically so far and the book is attractively presented.

I bought this book as it was required by the tutor of my evening class, however I really don't get on with it. There are a few issues.The answers to the exercises aren't at the back of the book, you need to look them up online. I study best when I keep my computer well away so this is a bit of a distraction for me.The entire book is in German which sounds good however, it means the exercises can be confusing and the explanations in the answers are clearly well above the standard expected of someone taking a course at this level. It means a lot of energy is spent trying to decipher the book rather than learning the new content.I really don't like this exercise book and wouldn't buy it unless specifically required for a course.

Book was damaged on arrival :(

The CD-ROM does not work at all.

As with the coursebook, this is useless without a tutor. Even using it for homework after a lesson, I found there were parts that I couldn't understand.Definitely not for self-study!
